My blurb for Revitalashmsays ONCE a day and expressly states there is no point applying more frequently!!

Aridane · 26/10/2018 08:29

Ok - so second day of using Revitalash. No stinging (as one poster reported) but in the morning the skin around my eyes felt a little tight. Is this normal/ anyone else having the same?

Laiste · 26/10/2018 08:36

Just checked the website and it says once a day Grin

I bought my first lot of it from QVC about 8 years ago and i think they were saying twice on the presentation. I've not read any leaflets since. So once it is then!

Yes i get the slightly tender/tight feeling. I use a little extra moisturiser. I think this goes away after a few days. If it doesn't or is really uncomfy i wouldn't continue with it. Lovely lashes aren't quite worth actual pain!

Aridane · 27/10/2018 10:28

So with Revitalash, how does it work? I assume the 6 week lead in time is because it’s targeting new lashes rather than existing one? So is it increasing the number of lashes growing? Or ‘just’ making them longer? Does it also male them thicker?

AndSheWas85 · 27/10/2018 12:45

@Aridane. They grow longer in my experience, I've used Lilash in the past (which was excellent) but I think most of them have the same active ingredient.
And yes like you said it doesn't happen overnight the serum has to work on the new lashes that are growing in and as lashes fall out and grow in at different rates, you will see a uniform length around the six to eight week mark. HTH Smile

P.S. There is also a new one on the market which is a lot cheaper than Lilash, with great reviews, can't remember the name of it ATM (don't worry it's not some MLM rubbish) but if I get a chance later I will try to find it -I know it's sold on Amazon through a reputable company- and post the details.

Mumsnut · 27/10/2018 12:45

As I recall, when these serums first came out, they contained an ingredient found in glaucoma medication that made lashes grow, but could also cause blue eyes to turn brown. Within a fairly short time, this 'off-label' use was banned.

Since then the serums have contained only 'conditioning' ingredients I believe, and peptides and so forth. The accepted wisdom is that they work - if they do work - by prolonging the life of each lash beyond the point at which it would normally break or fall out. Hence lashes are thicker/longer.

Have just about finished week one on Revitalash. Not expecting to see any difference yet.

@Mumsnut. Yes I think you're right about the ingredients that could change the irises to a darker shade. I've green eyes and they never changed colour in the time I was using the serum.

I also have a small scar underneath my eye, after a snowball fight with an accidental rock hiding it in went wrong. Good times Grin

I found the longer the lashes that were on my upper eyes the more it detracted from that scar and gave me a bit more confidence, to not be bothered about it anymore.

I also never use mascara or eyeliner on my lower lashes, as it can drag the eye downward, if you have issues in that area. So there ya, go. A top but obvious tip for you there, ladies.

ferretface · 27/10/2018 14:06

The active ingredient that used to be in revitalash etc is bimatoprost (Latisse) used in glaucoma treatment. I have an old tube of revitalash which still has it in, not too worried about the side effects as my eyes are already brown!

WeShouldOpenABar · 28/10/2018 14:42

Does it work on lower lashes too?

AndSheWas85 · 28/10/2018 16:10

@WeShouldOpenABar yes it does.

buckeejit · 28/10/2018 17:35

I used rapidlash a couple of years ago & was good-did take at least 6 week's though. Would like a budget version that works & have long lashes for Christmas so will await this rec

Aridane · 28/10/2018 17:40

Well - I’ve taken my ‘before’ shots. I’ll post my ‘after’ shots in mid December, even if there is no appreciable change

WeShouldOpenABar · 28/10/2018 22:31

@AndSheWas85 thanks my dm has offered to buy as my Christmas present, I'd no other ideas so accepted and hoping it works

Mumsnut · 07/11/2018 17:15

Still waiting for my lashes to grow and brush against my glasses Grin

adagio · 10/11/2018 23:02

I saw mavala recommended on this board a few years back, bought some in John Lewis fir about £20 I think, it works. It’s one of those things I can’t be arsed with so sits on the shelf for months then I start to use it again and think ooooo this is great. Currently using every day and seen a noticable difference in length in about 3 weeks.

Aridane · 10/11/2018 23:12

Revitalash is sufficiently expensive (even with my amazing discounts Grin ) that I am diligently using it each day as per the instruction!
