Red flaky nose

My nose is in a state. I look like I have a drink problem or a permanent cold (I have neither) , it is red and the skin looks really dry and flaky, as soon as I put foundation on. I also seem to have a few small spots under the skin. I don't know what to do, I have tried exfoliating and various moisturisers but it is making no difference, clients are commenting at work which doesn't look very professional.

I had flaky skin on my nose so I started using serum under my moisturiser, it's made so much difference.

I apply Clinique Smart Repair Serum then put Boots No7 Beautiful Skin face cream for oily skin (I have oily skin) over the serum.

I exfoliate with Clinique 7 day scrub max twice a week, don't over-exfoliate.

Also I don't put foundation on my nose, instead I just wear primer to blur the pores & get rid of shine.

Sounds like rosacea.

Make an appointment with your GP - if it is rosacea antibiotics long term can help.

Avoid excessive exfoliating, go for more gentle things. Wear daily sunscreen even in the winter.

lymecycline helped me. It's an antibiotic that's recommended for Rosacea, which it what I think you have.

Vagndidit · 17/10/2018 17:29

Yup, definitely sounds like rosacea. Try a course of antibiotics if you can, and see if they'll prescribe you Soolantra (ivermectin cream). It's the only thing that works on my nose. Antibiotics and metrogel worked ok on the rest of my face, but my nose took a long time to sort out. I've been left with quite a bit of scarring.

Thanks. Seems likely to be Roseaca and looking at the info I have had demodex in my lashes. Will try to get to GP. Those that have had it did it look much better after the treatment ?

Yes. Much better.

I just searched for “red flaky nose” and found this! Having the exact same problem so can sympathise. Would be interested in hearing how you get on at the GP if you don’t mind sharing.
