A few quid to spend- how should I do it?!

I am really lucky to have about £450 to spend on clothes. I'm in a weight rut and have hardly any clothes. I would like to get some new clothes and shoes to feel a bit better about myself. I'm returning to the UK after some years abroad and would like to look presentable for all the parties, potential job interviews and meeting up with family that will inevitably follow!

I'm 5'3 and a size 16-18 Blush. Big boobs and stomach, decent legs. I'm 29 and when I feel ok about myself mainly wear dresses and block heeled boots, or skinny jeans and a blouse with DMs/pumps/Vans. I need to get out of leggings and baggy jumpers as they are making me feel worse. I wear mostly dark and jewel colours- I was definitely an emo/arty/goth teenager and I guess my ideal look is probably a more mature version of this.

Any suggestions on items and shops? I'm aiming for some cheap with a bit of high end as well. When I visited in the summer I felt so much in the shops was a bit young for me or I was just too big to wear it.

I'm a little bit bigger than you, similar height (5'4), similar colours and styles. Have you looked at Monsoon? They are one of the few shops I buy coloured clothes in.

I hadn't thought of Monsoon- I always assumed it was for people a little older but I will definitely check them out, thanks!

I'm in that bracket, but they have some nice things - that I'm too old for!!

If you want some cheaper stuff I would really recommend Sainsbury's TU skinny jeans. You could get a couple of pairs (I have black and grey) for under £50 of your budget. They do both 16 and 18 in different leg lengths.

I also wear DMs and trainers a lot and almost all of my dresses to go with those are from ASOS.

VodkaLimeSoda27 · 17/10/2018 20:51

Ooh I've never bought anything from Tu but I'll ask my dad to take me to Sainsbury's when I get home Wink and yeah, ASOS is a good shout too. I've never ordered from them before, but they do free returns I think?

I used to buy everything from New Look/DP/Forever 21 when I last lived in the UK but I just want to branch out a bit and get some different stuff too, a bit more grown up without being ageing.
