Do you have a going out coat?

I do like to be comfortable and suitably dressed for the weather so I generally wear a Berghaus/North Face type anorak coat

I realise this is even more wrong when dressed up for a night out but I've got to an age where I'm not going coatless like I would have when I was young.

So I need something to go over smart casual for an evening in the pub or over a dress for a poshish restaurant.

I like this . It's exactly my colour and therefore goes with practically everything in my wardrobe and it's actually warm and does up properly, unlike most of the other "evening" coats/jackets I've seen.

I am a bit concerned that it's "too much" though, it's certainly more than anyone who knows me is used to seeing me in. It still like it though. What do you think?

I really like it, would be great with jeans or any nice trousers, also nice with sweater dress or mini. Maybe not a good length with a long dress but that might not be what you wear!

I don't have a going out coat BTW, I just have a coat. What I actually need is a bergahaus anorak for walking, as that's when I struggle!

OP, I'm just the same as you abs lady year I bought a coat in a different colour but similar to the monsoon one abs I love it!

It's warm but smart and it feels a real treat to wear it as I only wear it when I go out (sadly not enough these days!)

Go for it I say

I think it's lovely - it definitely has a "special occasion" vibe but without being too stuffy or conventional.

macnab · 17/10/2018 15:14

That's gorgeous OP, buy it!

I have a fake fur collarless coat, little bit shorter than that one, and I get lots of wear out of it during colder months. Well, not lots of wear since I don't really go "out out" that much, but you know what I mean...

I have a brown fake fur from River Island gathering dust - never go out.. Sob..

Ooh, I thought about starting this exact thread the other day. I went out on Saturday night, reasonably dressed up (dinner and theatre), but wore my raincoat. Now, it's a very smart, expensive raincoat in a nice colour but it's not a "going out" coat. There were lots of women around who had done the same as me, but others in their "going out" coats looked much nicer. I'm rather fancying one of the leopard or zebra print ones that are around at the moment. I like the one on the link, but it would be a bit much on me (small frame) I think.

Go for it!

I have this coat.

It's long and swishy and is a great going out coat

I have a black & white tweed pattern coat with a white fake fur collar that I bought in River Island last year for going out in, or just for when I want to look smart.

I bought a silvery pale grey Lipsy parka from Next for this year so i have something smart to wear when it rains, as often when I have days off I end up in a nice bar or restaurant after walks or shopping.

I like that Monsoon coat OP, I think I've seen it in the store,
