Nipple Piercing- when will the pain stop!

I got my nipple pierced TODAY. As expected, it hurt a lot but i love how it looks. Since getting it pierced my nipple and surrounding area has been burning really badly. I wasn't expecting the after pain to be this bad, anybody else experienced this?

I took the plaster off and the blood has crusted a little ( gross, sorry ) so i plan to wash it for the first time tomorrow morning.

On a side note, my piercer told me to wash it in the shower with soap and avoid salt water. However everywhere online recommends a salt water soak. Let me know your experiences/ aftercare

Could you be allergic to the bar? Burning isn't usual usual, it should be a wholesome pain.

And yes avoid salt, all my leaflets have said this. I bought a spray though, easy as.

It shouldn't hurt at all by now. I had both of mine pierced at the same time with titanium bars and they each hurt for max 20secs only. No discomfort afterwards either! It's a very easy place to get a piercing as the healing is often straight forward. I would recommend using salt water baths daily- just use a clean shot glass with warm water and pinch of sea salt, hold over each nipple for 5 mins morning & 5 mins evening. I did that for 5 months following the piercing and have never had any issues!

You also shouldn't have blood or crusting too often. If you do, soak as stated and wipe round with a cotton bud if needs be.
Do not just leave it to soap and water! They need to be soaked daily.

If you still have pain or swelling in a few days and the crusting/blood hasn't cleared up by soaking then I'd definitely go and see another piercer to get their opinion.

Holy fuck I've just read they put plasters on the piercings??!! NO. Any reputable piercer knows not to do that! It needs air. Oh my god. Take it off and soak unless you want to have to get them taken out soon and be treated for infection.

(I've had so many piercings and always done the same soaking method, never had any pain, any infection).

I got mine done 4 days ago. Hurt at the time and on and off for the rest of the day and the day after. Doesn't really hurt at all now, I get the odd little itch when it rubs against my clothes. I haven't moved the bar at all because I've been told it interferes with healing.

They put a big plaster over it for two hours initially because of the bleeding. Then they said to take it off and let it air as much as poss. It bled overnight twice but that's settled now. It crusted over a lot but I used salt water and a cotton bud to clean it.

Have been soaking in salt water twice a day but going down to once a day tomorrow because it's healing nicely and the area is starting to get a bit dry.

They gave me a plastic shot glass to soak it in, and I've used that to cover it in the shower while I've shampooed to avoid getting soap on it.

There's a Facebook group called Ask A Professional Piercer- does what it says on the tin really. All the piercers are accredited, and salt soaks are recommended by them in the early days of the piercing to avoid infection.

Hope that helps :)
