Nail advice

I've spent years trying to stop biting my nails, at best they grow a little then as they are so weak they chip and rip and I end up biting them anyway. I really want to try falsa nails but have no idea what to ask for or what to avoid. I'd love to use false nails to give my own nails a chance to grow but don't know if the false nail will weaken my own further? My nails are not bitten too badly, there is no white tip but there is no broken skin or anything so I hope there is a type of nail that would suit. Any advice??

I really wouldn’t get a false or an acrylic nail it will trash your real nails. Shellec may be ok but only if the tech doesn’t buff or file your own nail plate.
Have you tried solar oil (to moisturise) and a clear polish strengthened to make the them less prone to chipping?

I've tried clear strengthening polishes but my nails are just so flexible that as soon as the grow they snag or bend even with polish. The only time I can grow them past my nail bed is when I'm pregnant!! I've not tried solar oil though? What will it do. Tbh, I just want to smarten up and I was hoping false nail would kick start my own nails, even if it has to be over a longer period but if it is just going to weaken them further it's possibly not worth it.

I bit my nails for decades then got gel nails and never looked back. My nails haven't been damaged and are string and in good condition. The woman who does mine files the gel off by hand. Those electric files are really brutal and will damage your nails.
