I’ve always liked a bit of fake fur, although stopped wearing it for a few years as thought it made me look even fatter
Just bought this coat to treat myself after losing 5 stone
Do you like a bit of fur?

I think very young, tall, slim model types can carry it off. Past that, no, sorry, I'm not a fan.

mimibunz · 15/10/2018 20:34

I like a bit of fur on my cat! Otherwise, no it’s not my thing. Congratulations on losing 5 stone-that’s so impressive!

Bluntness100 · 15/10/2018 20:34

And sorry, congrats on the five stone loss..😍

Moominfan · 15/10/2018 20:35

Congrats that's amazing weight loss

averageisgood · 15/10/2018 20:35

I love faux fur! I love the snuggliness. I have bought one that has faux fur in the pockets, makes me feel happy every time I try it on, not cold enough yet. Also have a leather biker lined with faux fur. I'm tempted to buy a full length coat too.

JaceLancs · 15/10/2018 20:50

It’s such a contrast to my usual style but understand it’s not for everyone

I love it. Though prefer it when the rest of the outfit is casual rather than dressy

JaceLancs · 15/10/2018 23:08

I will be wearing it with jeans and boots mainly
Thanks for congrats on weight loss, from my heaviest ever Sad I’ve actually lost 7 stone!
Trying to lose another stone, but I’m a slow loser

I hate the feeling of fur, it gives me the shivers.

There was a segment on a programme (maybe countryfile) where they sent some furry bobble hats to be tested and it turned out to be real fur!

TheHoundsofLove · 16/10/2018 06:23

Jane I saw a similar segment (on a watchdog type programme) and was horrified that they found rabbit and fox fur labelled as fake. One of the items was a pair of gloves with a 'fake' fur trim and the other was, I think, a coat with 'fake' fur trim. And they were being sold by mainstream, high street brands - who, admittedly, didn't know it was real and removed the lines immediately. But still...

ElfrideSwancourt · 16/10/2018 06:32

Well done on losing 5 stone Jace! I love your coat, probably because I have one very similar!

I've lost 4 1/2 stone and am looking forward to the weather getting colder so I can wear my fake fur.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/10/2018 11:38

I love faux fur, and have numerous coats/jackets I have collected over the years. That’s a lovely one.

JaceLancs · 16/10/2018 12:32

Elfride - congrats on your weight loss too!

This is definitely fake fur I wouldn’t ever wear real
It’s Karen Millen from TKMaxx if anyone is interested
Reminds me of my grey and white kitten

Jace Indeed - I wasn't suggesting that your coat might be real. It was more an explanation as to why I really don't like fake fur anymore. Also, I do wonder whether the availability of such realistic fake fur fabrics has had the awful and unintentional effect of propping up the real fur industry...

Gardai · 16/10/2018 14:32

I love faux fur, I can’t help myself, it’s like an irrepressible urge.
I have just bought 2 off eBay.i have to be very careful what I wear with the, to avoid the bet lynch look.

TheHoundsofLove · 16/10/2018 15:02

I should add that I think you'll look fab in your coat though, Jace - well done on losing so much weight! Smile

RightYesButNo · 16/10/2018 15:11

Congrats on the weight loss, OP! And lovely coat!

It’s actually the bottoms of the sleeves that need to be checked (though I’m sure they’re probably fake). Unfortunately, many companies list it as fake fur, and then in China, they will actually use the fur of an animal called a raccoon dog instead of fake. Very heart-breaking.

When you see the type of fur like at the bottom of the sleeves on your jacket, ALWAYS check closely. Here’s an image that shows you how.

Jace I was just saying so that people will be wary because the shops didn't even know that the manufacturers were using real fur!
