I keep getting ads popping up on my Facebook and seen a few bit I fancy
Is it going to be a case of you get what you pay for and I'm going to be left with some badly fitting tat?
Any experiences appreciated :)

Ooh, I’d like to know too!

holycityzoo · 15/10/2018 12:37

The quality is on a par with primark. Also it's tiny and I mean tiny.
Check the measurements on each item as they vary massively.
I did get a couple of nice bits over the summer.
Also returns are pretty much impossible as to china and they make it as hard as possible. Expect to wait a week to two weeks for delivery.

RefuseTheLies · 15/10/2018 12:39

Their trustpilot reviews are not good at all.

anothernewone · 15/10/2018 12:40

Thanks @holy.
I was expecting returns to be difficult so good to know about the sizing!
Worth a punt do you think?

I think the quality is worse than Primark - and nothing fit. The cuts are for very slim Asian women, so if you’ve a hint of a curve you’ll be out of luck. The only friend I have who likes them is a size 6-8 and a 4”11z

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 15/10/2018 12:41

I bought a large sweater from them. It's a snug fit on my 8 year old! Not something I'd recommend.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 15/10/2018 12:41

And I like Primark. I’ve done well there recently.

BinkyandBunty · 15/10/2018 12:43

I bought a dress which looked gorgeous in the photo and cheap as chips.

In reality it was a horrible rough polyester, had pulled threads everywhere and an obvious mistake in the print. Oh and I'd ordered an 18 to be safe and it was far too tight and short on my size 14 bod.

anothernewone · 15/10/2018 12:49

Ok thanks- I think I'll give it a miss then as I'm tall and although slimish am rather curvy
Thanks all :)

I've had some alright bits from there. A couple of dresses and tops. It's Primark quality. I only bought things with previous reviews.

I'm a size 20 and 5ft 10. I went by the measurements on each item of clothing rather than the size also see if the models measurements are included (they were in the plus size) that way you can get a bit of an idea of fit. I also checked the description which tells you if the material has any stretch and sized up for items that didn't.

Everything I ordered fit me fine. One dress was actually too big.

Took about 10 days for delivery.

Overall I'd say it was worth a go for how little it cost. Would I shop again??? Probably.

XiCi · 15/10/2018 16:42

I actually had some lovely pieces from them this summer. I ordered a huge haul and kept about half of it. Yes the sizes are small as they're Chinese sizing but they have measurements available for every item so it's really easy to order your fit. As a rough guide S M L XL is about 6, 8, 10, 12. Returns were easy. They just deducted a flat fee of £3 from the return which I think is OK for international returns. I'm definitely going to order more this winter. A couple of girls from work have just received orders and are happy. Quality definitely better than Primark!

XiCi · 15/10/2018 16:44

Oh and I'm a curvy size 12 (32FF curvy) and the clothes fitted just fine

DianaT1969 · 16/10/2018 18:29

There have been threads here before where lots of people said that the fit is terrible, there is no customer service for returns and the clothes look nothing like the photos. The Daily Fail did an article on disappointing clothes direct from China advertised heavily on FB. The examples were atrocious.

DianaT1969 · 16/10/2018 18:30

@XiCi
You're the only positive pp I've ever seen on MN regarding Shein. Would you mind posting a few examples on? Cut out your face of course!
Thanks!

XiCi · 16/10/2018 19:49

Diana you'll have to take my word for it. Im currently working 50hrs a week, have DC and haven't got time to get out all my summer clothes and model them for you Grin. Customer service was very good, when I had a query I used live chat, all fine. Everyone from work happy too with their purchases. I did check some fashion bloggers before I bought so had an idea of fit and what would work etc. I think people just look at S M. L and order what they would be in the UK without looking at measurements first. As I said, returns were easy, back in my account in about 10 days.

XiCi · 16/10/2018 19:55

You should really know better than to believe a Daily Fail article as well!

Furrycushion · 16/10/2018 20:01

I ordered DD a sun dress in the summer. She is a slightly curvy 10/12 and the medium was tiny. We changed it for the large and even that is a little small. I'm not sure I would get anything else from them.

XiCi · 16/10/2018 20:13

That's what I mean though about applying UK sizes without looking at the measurements. They're Asian sizes so a medium is around an 8-10. A 12 is usually an XL. They have measurements available for every single article of clothing so I think they're very transparent in terms of the size of the clothes. I definitely think that you have to be careful what you buy but you can get some real bargain fashion pieces from them

Wallflowerfire · 16/10/2018 20:36

It's so bad. The sizes are just lies. I ordered a jumper, it said it was 70cm long, it was 50cm. And the knit was totally different, wool a lot cheaper than looked in the pic. Can't return as they're in China!
Just don't bother.

XiCi · 16/10/2018 20:54

Can't return as they're in China!
Seriously, it's so easy. You go on to the website , tick what you're sending back and print off the label. I appreciate it might not be worth it if you've spent a fiver on a jumper but it's rubbish to say you can't make returns.

DianaT1969 · 16/10/2018 22:03

Read Trustpilot reviews for the last 3 days only. Sizing isn't the only issue. Dreadful quality, unlike photo, no shipping updates, difficult to return, lack of customer service. Why is anyone tempted by this? There are cheap clothes in the UK without any hassle.

It's a train wreck! Reading these reviews is addictive 😬
Stressful for the customers though.

EchoJuliet · 16/10/2018 22:57

I bought 5 pieces. Two jersey striped dresses are lovely. One shirt is fine. The other two summer dresses were shapeless and had to go to the charity shop. I’m a size 12, height 5ft 6 and I’m put off ordering again not because I don’t like the stuff (the dresses are honestly fab) but because it’s so hit and miss. My sil always has fab stuff from there though!

XiCi · 17/10/2018 06:30

Have you actually bought anything though Diana? You have very strong views about Shein for someone that has never ordered from them. Those reviews appear fake. There's no danger of losing your money as its via PayPal, you don't schedule people to pick up your parcel its a pre printed returns label and the post office took my parcel, no hassle.

Quality and sizing could definitely be an issue. What I liked though was that under each item of clothing there are customer reviews where they have uploaded photos so you have a much better idea of what the item looks like on a particular size and build. I was introduced to Shein by people on S&B who bought the bird print jumpsuit this summer. It was a great fit, quality was more than OK for £15 and I got loads of compliments. Obviously I'm not going to be buying my whole wardrobe from there but my experience with them has been fine for a few bargain pieces
