What shoes?

Hi, I'd like to get advice on shoes for this dress. I'm not great with heels and prefer a bit more comfort so a more sturdy heel or boots if it goes. Any thoughts on style or colour? I have a more bohemian style so would prefer boots, ankle or knee if that would work

Would definitely work with black tights and black shoe boots/ ankle boots. What’s the occasion though?

Eesha · 15/10/2018 01:40

Just going out to meet friends during the day or even a casual first date.

Ankle boots ankle boots ankle boots

will look fab!

SuperstarDJ · 15/10/2018 03:41

Is the background of the dress black or blue?

Eesha · 15/10/2018 07:04

background is navy blue, so what colour ankle boots would work?....

Is the dress from Whistles OP? If so, I have it and it’s brighter in real life than it appears in the photo. I’m not sure black opaque tights will go with it.

Eesha · 15/10/2018 08:08

Yes from Whistles, I was also thinking black might not go but wasn't sure of a cool alternative? Tan?

If the background is navy you'll probably need navy tights and boots or it will look a bit off. Possibly navy tights and tan boots but I'm not sure if they'd go with the pink?

what about these? I've never bought shoes in Matalan but seem so cheap!

Matalan ones worth a shot if you don’t think you’d wear them for anything but interviews. Depending on the blue, they’d go, style certainly would. Just wondering if they’d stick out as cheap because the outfit is so gloriously expensive looking. Worth a look (especially if long trousers cover them so only bit of toe and heel show).

CountFosco · 15/10/2018 21:39

I have these in navy which I can recommend. Was wearing them today for work with a navy dress. I also have navy brogues and navy loafers. I wear a lot of navy!

Argh wrong thread! Sorry! But bits of my post still apply!

Eesha · 17/10/2018 22:39

@SuperstarDJ dress arrived and is brighter than expected but lovely. What shoes do you wear with yours? I don't think I can get away with anything flat!

@Eesha I’ve only worn mine dressed up to two weddings so far with bare legs. One with coral suede heels and the other with navy patent. I’m not sure what I’d wear on my feet to dress it down as the tights situation is tricky - I think black opaques would be too dark and navy tights would look odd. Am currently heavily pregnant so dress is up in the attic so I can’t check exact shade.

I think ankle boots would be best rather than knee high. Black tights might work so long as everything else was black too e.g black boots and black jacket/biker. Navy suede ankle boots would look good but probably with bare legs and it’s prob too cold for that now!
