M&S ankle boots winter 2019 - so disappointing!

Just returned from a very rare shopping trip to Leeds

I really fancy some nice ankle boots and thought M&S might have something nice (I'm a 6.5 and not everywhere does half sizes but M&S do)

I couldn't have been more disappointed. They had some absolute shockers!!

On a more mature note... You're not wrong, OP. Do you think the designers might have been on glue when they thought of those?

I saw those - unremarkable boot sitting on what ? A door stop ? A paper weight? Looks like it should send sparks as you clank along

I was flabbergasted by how awful 90% of the range was, I cannot begin to imagine the thought process that resulted in those door knob heels finding their way on to the shop shelves

The shoes and boots in there at the mo are a right weird collection. Purple velvet oddly shaped kitten heels anyone?

But then the women in the queue behind me were admiring them lot so I guess someone likes those ball heel ones too. It takes all sorts.

On the plus side they've really upped their game in the clothing dept. Still some puzzling choices from their buyers but overall there's some things I'm actually going to buy and the last thing I had from M&S was a cream cord duffel coat when I was 9.

Looking online I can't find the purple velvet ones but did come across these beauties which seem to combine the two things with added mule. Good reviews though...

When they try and do fashion they always get it totally wrong. They should just stick to basics - normal heel and those boots would fly out.

I'm going to stick up for M&S a bit here because I was looking online yesterday and thought how nice some of the boots were!

Agree they are ok TeamDixon but I don't recall seeing any of those in Leeds City centre branch today

As well as the boots with heels like the coasters on a 1950s wardrobe they also had lots of mid height wedge heel ankle boots which might sound ok on paper but they were all the epitome of 'Mum boots'

I like those last ones with the buckle Team.

One shit pair of boots does not make for a whole department of disappointment.

I was going to make a trip to M&S Leeds this week for boots. Looks like its not worth the extortionate parking fees, so will not bother.

The whole department was disappointing, hence my bothering to start a thread. There were a few nice pairs of casual ankle boots suitable for daytime but I was hoping to find some nice heeled boots that could be dressed up for nights out and there was nothing at all that I even felt slightly inclined to try on

I was in today (smallish branch) not looking at shoes.
They had the really nice velvetty cord leggings that I love (not in my size or I'd have bought them)
And some lovely basic sweaters , nice colours (once you got past an entire section of chartreuse )

I love M&S for shoes/boots , they have loads of non-leather .
