The private clinic (boob job)

Hi everyone, I'm finally seriously considering getting a boob job after years of thinking about it, I've got an appointment in a few weeks in the private clinic in Bristol, anyone around who had experience there or want to share their experiences? I'm quite nervous about the whole think, been researching the surgeon but would like real experiences if possible...

OP, I can't advise about the Bristol clinic, but I am currently 2 days post-op, and have found Breast Buddies (boob job support forum) to be a great source of information, although there's little current activity, and most of the posts are a few years old.
So have a read on there, and good luck.

Frenchcroissant · 14/10/2018 16:52

Thank you, will have a look. Where did you have yours done, if you don't mind me asking?

I am in the North West, and had mine done at Spire Cheshire Hospital.

reeree1805 · 14/10/2018 17:45

I used bupa in 2000 never looked back x

Frenchcroissant · 14/10/2018 18:07

I did have a look at a Bupa clinic near me but they asked for £100 for just a consultation, I thought that was a bit excessive...

OP, I had a free consultation, for information purposes, with a Cosmetic Nurse Adviser: she was a Registered Nurse, and there was no hard sell whatsoever.
If there is a Spire hospital near you, have a look at their website, and see if they offer a similar service, or a cosmetic surgery information evening.
Some women travel to the hospital and surgeon that they decide upon, maybe staying in a hotel the night before admission.

pretendingtowork1 · 15/10/2018 08:49

£100 is about right for a consultation outside London. 2-3 times that in London. Any decent consultant won't charge less than that. Don't skimp on this!

florriepeck · 15/10/2018 09:00

Oh, it was about £180 for the Consultant appointment; the free nurse appointment was just for information.

Frenchcroissant · 15/10/2018 17:04

I don't want to skimp, just thought that if I wanted more than one consultation and I had to pay that much I wouldn't be able to. At the one I'm going I paid £50 and then I'll get the money back on the consultation day. Is that not normal? Having doubts now!!

OP posts:
florriepeck · 15/10/2018 17:19

I'm not sure what's generally normal, OP, as I only went to the Spire, and this one particular surgeon: was happy with everything and felt in good hands, so I looked no further.

Frenchcroissant · 15/10/2018 17:32

Thanks Florrie, I've just had a look and there's a Spire near me in Southampton, have just emailed them for information.

OP posts:
florriepeck · 15/10/2018 18:06

Wish you well, OP.
Take your time in gathering information and making a decision; it has to feel right.

reeree1805 · 15/10/2018 19:43

Worth it tho x

Frenchcroissant · 15/10/2018 20:25

I'm sure it will be worth it, teeter, I wear a 32a bra and don't fill the cups up... It's so depressing

OP posts:
tessiegirl · 15/10/2018 20:30

Sounds like we are in same area op.
I had mine done with transform and they were great Grin

Frenchcroissant · 16/10/2018 20:47

Thanks Tessie, will have a look at them too.

I'm having mine done on Friday.

Happy to answer any questions post surgery later on that day.

I'm so excited.

itsbritneybiatches · 17/10/2018 14:54

@florriepeck

Has it hurt much?

florriepeck · 17/10/2018 15:58

britney, yes, it hurts, but nothing that I can't cope with.
And I had an uplift as well as implants, so I suppose that's a bit more to cope with.
Don't know if it makes any difference, but I am an old crock, too (54)!
This time last week, I was excited, too, like you are now.
And even if I could have looked ahead, I would still feel the same.

Frenchcroissant · 17/10/2018 16:11

Congratulations that everything is ok so far, Florrie!! I'm soooo jelaous! 😆 Where did you have them done? I'm having doubts about my consultation next month, as I researched the surgeon and he's not Baps registered, that's not good, right?

OP posts:
Frenchcroissant · 17/10/2018 16:14

I meant BAAPS. Also, on the website there's before and after pictures and none are from him....

OP posts:
florriepeck · 17/10/2018 16:24

Frenchcroissant, I had them done at Spire Cheshire.
Yes, you must make sure that your surgeon is BAAPS registered.
You don't want to end up on the front page of Take a Break.

Frenchcroissant · 17/10/2018 16:33

So how did you check yours? Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

OP posts:
florriepeck · 17/10/2018 16:39

Details of the surgeons operating in that hospital were on their website, and were easily cross checked.
And he is known as a reputable surgeon.
