People who have had lip fillers...

I DON’T want this to turn into a ‘OMG, can’t believe you want lip fillers thread’ I just want opinions from people that have had (preferably) Juvaderm lip fillers, either 1/2 ml (which is what I’m having) or 1ml re how much it hurt and whether numbing cream would suffice or whether I should go for a dental block.

TIA

I have had juvederm lip fillers several times.

It feels exactly how you’d expect a needle going into your lips feels like if that makes sense? It’s not painful at first but a bit sharp. As the procedure goes on, it hurts more as your lips will feel a bit tender whilst you get further injections and the practitioner massages the filler in. It can take 30 mins+ to carry out as they make adjustments to your liking, so your lips might feel sore at the end. It’s definitely bareable though. Like a 6/10 pain (for me).

I don’t think it would warrant a dental block but I suppose it depends on your pain tolerance? I have a high pain tolerance and am fine with needles. The numbing cream does fuck all. The numbing cream just takes the edge off of the first injection lol (maybe the second too, if you’re lucky). After that you feel the full pain in my opinion, but again it’s definitely bareable. If you close your eyes and take deep breaths, you’ll get through it.

Thanks. It’s so difficult isn’t it because no one knows what someone else’s pain threadhold is, but I’ve been scared silly watching YouTube videos where the majority of people getting it done have been like ‘Not going to lie, it really, REALLY hurts.’ Confused
