I don’t have much money to spend so a lot of the recommendations here are useless to me.

I use Nivea cleansing stuff.

Coconut oil.

Reusable cloth wipes for washing my face.

Brands for make up are make up revolution some Rimmel and Maybelline and W7. I do use studio fix foundation by Mac and I get my eyebrows done regularly.

I need a winter jumper and some winter boots. They need to be lower end of high street or supermarket. I just don’t have the cash to spend £££

I’m late 40s 5ft2 and size 14. I’m losing weight so I don’t want to spend a lot and I don’t have it anyway.

Is anyone else like me? Sometimes I read here and it’s not even aspirational for me. There’s no way I’d spend £100 on a handbag for eg.

Just bought the jumper in ultraviolet.

I buy basic T shirts from Primark - cotton with Lycra scoop beck both long and short sleeve (size up). Have found they wear better than ones I've previously had from Boden - no shrinkage after washing / tumble drying.
I normally buy jeans from Next but have just got some jeggings from Asda- nice and comfortable.
Asda training shoes are really comfortable.

There is cheap knitwear available in any supermarket- and it's a bit of a lottery as to how well it lasts.
I've just bought a couple of jumper dresses in Lidl £8. I haven't got them out of box yet but the one I bought last year is still going, nice quality.

I have some ankle boots I bought from Tesco around 4 years ago, not even leather, and I've worn them loads. Looking a bit tired now and I'm wondering what to replace them with as they are so comfy.

There is plenty of choice of cheap clothing around, I suggest you just have a browse and see what you think that you like. Having read some threads where people have spent £££ on clothing and it's been badly made, fallen apart on washing etc you aren't guaranteed anything better quality even if you do spend more.

The likes of primark is a total false economy - cheap, poorly made throwaway fashion. Don't waste your money. sorry but I disagree, I have some really good stuff from there that has lasted years. I think you just have to be a good judge of the fabrics they use and know which of the flimsy stuff to avoid.

librarylover53 · 13/10/2018 12:31

You must be lucky Eccles! It is cheaply made with cheap fabrics, there's no denying that. That's why prices are so low! There's also the ethics of buying so much cheap, throwaway stuff.

I used to buy bits and pieces from that but rarely would anything last. Plus as I get older I think I just need better fabrics and better made stuff! Hence my eBay addiction :)

From there

I second eBay. Good quality clothes sell for very little. The only problem is you have to know what suits you and be a fairly standard size. H&M for basics are good. Register for a club card and then you will receive regular discounts.

"The only problem is you have to know what suits you and be a fairly standard size"

And that is why I can never buy online. I have to try everything on before I buy as I am between a 10 and a 12 top and have very long arms.

Sainsbury's seems to do really nice stuff that is of decent quality. Also they have a 25% off event regularly, I think the next one is at the end of the month.
I also like to buyer higher end items second hand off eBay.

Tanyaaah · 13/10/2018 15:53

La Redoute is good, they have up to 50% off everything at the moment!
