What would you wear with this?

It's black, I lightened the photo slightly to see detail. Ever so slightly too large around the waist, and I clearly don't fill out the breast area as intended, but smaller would be too small on the arms and hips.

What would you wear to office? Leggings/boots/scarf/cardigan? I've currently got black ankle boots and black normal height boots.

What about going out for a meal?

Never had a black dress before!

Tights and boots. Both boots would look fine. You could accesorise it for a meal. You could wear a pair of heels and tights with it. Its quite versatile. If you feel you aren't filling out the bust, try a padded bra but it looks fine to me.

sadnessin · 12/10/2018 11:12

I'd be tempted with a thick black leather waist belt with gold hardware

UnsympathetiCow · 12/10/2018 11:24

What colour legs, black? I prefer to wear leggings and socks because tights make my feet go smelly Blush

I'd go coloured opaques with the ankle boots.

carrie74 · 12/10/2018 11:34

Belt would be good, I'd hold off on tights until it's actually cold. I'd go with ankle boots for a modern look, normal boots for a more traditional look.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/10/2018 12:00

I would never wear bare legs with that dress. Its a winter dress. It would just look weird imo. Black leggings or tights would be fine. Don't show the gap at the bottom if wearing leggings.

neveradullmoment99 · 12/10/2018 12:02

I don't think you need a belt with that dress. It nips in at the waist already. I think a scarf would pull it all together and balance things out.

Ellapaella · 12/10/2018 12:13

Nice dress. Where is it from?
I'd style with:
Black opaque tights.
Ankle boots for a casual look would look great.
An oxblood or burgundy biker jacket with ankle boots would look fab.
There is a fair bit of detail around the bust and the waist so I'd avoid a belt or or a necklace personally. I would accessorise with some statement earrings and some nice wrist jewellery.

Ellapaella · 12/10/2018 12:14

Agree it's a dress that needs tights.

Lucked · 12/10/2018 12:16

You could wear grey tights too depending on the shoes or boots, I quite like grey with brogues.

You need a necklace too.

UnsympathetiCow · 12/10/2018 12:50

Oh, I definitely need to wear something, no-one wants to see my legs!

It's this one

So this is acceptable? Please excuse the Ikea step, it was easier than finding somewhere else to balance my phone 😂

I think you look great in both pics, OP. Slight preference for the grey tights.

Unsure123123 · 12/10/2018 18:56

Day time, opaques and boots. Nighttime, belt, tight, matching heels & bag, big earrings.

WowOoo · 12/10/2018 18:57

Both lovely! I have some lovely scarves and a couple of necklaces that would look fab with that outfit.

UnsympathetiCow · 12/10/2018 19:02

Please show me WowOoo! I have no style! Jeans and t-shirt and a fleece is my standard wear. I'd need scarf and cardigan for the office, it's always chilly.

I never even got my ears pierced when I was a teen Blush Seems a bit late to do it now!

Lovely dress and either colour tights look great. If black tights I think I'd put a red or a leopard print scarf with it. It's hard to see the top properly but maybe a chunky silver long necklace with the grey tights.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 12/10/2018 20:22

I think it looks really good with grey tights - breaks up the black. I'd put a scarf of the same colour grey with it.

zippyswife · 12/10/2018 20:32

The dress looks great with the tights and boots. Especially with the black tights.

I love those boots! Where are they from?

UnsympathetiCow · 13/10/2018 12:21

Boots are from Clarks.

Um. I'm not sure that I have style, but it's made me smile!
I can't show you my scarf and necklace collection... Would take forever!
Necklaces: chunky turquoise and silver, burgundy lumps, peacock coloured long thing. A splash of colour or just delicate metal for my otherwise dull outfits.
My nicest ones were presents, one that gets the most compliments was from a charity shop.

Same with scarves really. Go for one or the other. My friend wear bright tights. She looks fab...I feel like a plonker even in darker coloured tights like burgundy or dark green.
