Hello Ladies

I would really like to request some of your fashion sense help with finding a dress for my 40th birthday.

I am having a big sit down dinner/disco black tie party and I have a budget of up to £500.

I am 5ft 5, 11st 7, curvy with a very large bust.

I think I would like a raised hemline at the front to allow for dancing, something like the Ted Baker Lucie dress but with a better neckline and a stronger colour?

Any suggestions?

With many thanks in advance

Cas

I personally wouldn't go strapless with a larger bust. And I think that shape will not be the most flattering you could get.

I like this www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_61252+276875_-1

coast

jimmybim · 11/10/2018 19:58

and another coast

JosellaPlayton · 11/10/2018 20:03

I wouldn’t buy from Coast, they’ve just gone into administration so even if you can still buy stuff you’ll probably struggle to return it if it’s not quite right. Shame as those are lovely dresses!

And thank you for the advice about Coast, I hadn't heard!

I also hadn't heard of Quiz but I love both those options so I will take a look at the rest of their line.

With that budget, I'd be all over The Outnet...

spanishwife · 12/10/2018 11:35

If your budget is £500 then stay away from Quiz! All very made in China

I saw this on the side bar of the dress you originally posted and thought it was lovely and very elegant: www.tedbaker.com/uk/Womens/Tie-The-Knot/PETRRA-One-shouldered-maxi-dress-Navy/p/144839-NAVY

ferrier · 12/10/2018 13:06

Sorry, I thought budget said £50 not £500!

Cassini · 12/10/2018 13:27

Ferrite, I am having more trouble buying something for £500 than £50 as I don't know where to start and which brands and websites to look at!

@Cassini Yes, I would too!

Cassini · 12/10/2018 18:00

Pythone Vivienne Westwood is a great call, she seems to have dresses in my price point that will flatter although I have fallen in love with this which is slightly above budget Wink

As you’ve got a good budget don’t order online. Get yourself to some local designer boutiques and try lots on. You might be surprised what suits you and a good shop will advise you too.
