Anyone had a mole removed on their face recently?

I have three ugly moles on my face (with hair...yuk!). I'm sick to death of plucking and they need to go, but I'm confused at all the different options, laser/excision/shaving.

Has anybody had this done recently or can recommend anyone?

I have had excision by a plastic surgeon on two moles on my face. If they are raised and deep that's the only way to go I was told. I was very pleased with the results. Scarring is barely visible.

I had one near my eyebrow done by my electrologist (had to provide a note from my dr that it was benign). I've been going to her for years and I trusted her as a member of the BIAE that she was trained an knew what to do. I've been going to her for years so she just it as part of my appointment (no numbing, I didn't feel it at all but I'm used to electrolysis so I might just have a good tolerance for it)so it was less than 5 minutes of a 70 quid hour long appointment but generally electologists do charge anywhere from 50-100 I think to remove moles.

I've attached some photos (before, healing and after- might take 2 posts). It scabbed after a few days and must have fallen off while I slept after about a week.

The new skin underneath was red for a little while but completely normal except for when I was just out of the shower or back from a run in about 2.5-3 weeks.

This is 2 weeks after and then the last 2 are 1 month and 2 months after.

If you can find someone competent and the moles aren't too big, I recommend it to everyone which is why I had photos to hand

Wow Miri that's a fantastic result. Was the person that did yours in London or the Southeast by any chance?

Sorry I'm based in N.Ireland but theres a directory on electrology.co.uk and I'm sure you'll be able to find someone great if you go with electrolysis. Anyone I've told about who has had them removed with electrolysis has nothing but positive things to say

I had mine shaved....because the hair kept getting blocked and raised and angry! Couple of steristrips. Can just about see the outline left but the bloody wirey hair (there are 2 now) still need plucking!!!! X

Not a mole, but I had a sebaceous cyst removed at Wimbledon private GP clinic. They have an NHS plastic surgery consultant who does minor operations on Sundays. He did a beautiful job excising it. Not cheap but well worth it.

Gah! I want to remove the pesky wiry hairs! I suppose that would be another advantage of electrolysis.
Sounds good Fleur, but £200 per extra mole is go my to cost a LOT!!!! Shock

Best of luck! Please do let me know how you get on

fleuriepeninsula - the plastic surgeon (Dr Singh) sounds v.good however the website is a little odd? How did you find out about this place ?

fleuriepeninsula · 13/10/2018 12:35

@MrsMS a lot of googling and a bit of faith to be honest. I didn’t want to pay Harley St prices (£600 ish) so I had to look quite hard to find somewhere that seemed to know what they were doing. I googled the doctor and checked he was indeed an nhs plastics consultant. I agree their website is absolutely terrible!

gindrinkingmarypoppins · 18/10/2018 17:45

Well, had my electrolysis appointment today, and whilst still early days, it does look very encouraging so far. I've been trying ld to expect it for a bit scabby then fall off.
It was painful, but more in a 'make your eyes water' kind of a way. Fingers crossed! Pic attached of two hours post treatment.

Thats great OP!

StillMedusa · 20/10/2018 18:20

I had one removed from near the corner of my mouth a few months ago (Genesis clinic Oxford) I can't fault them... I had a scab for a week that looked like a burn and now there is barely even a mark!
I'm very moley but I refuse to keep the ones on my face!

gindrinkingmarypoppins · 22/10/2018 22:32

Looks a lot more scabby now! Hoping it's only a few more days, I have to admit it's agony not to touch them haha.

@miri1985

I’m based in NI too with a couple of moles on my face that I’d love to get rid of. Would you mind pm’ing me the details of where you got yours done please?

monkeytalk · 21/03/2020 18:21

Just want to know if anyone has had facial moles removed by laser by the skin clinic before? I saw a consultant there recently but he said they never remove any mole by laser. I m very confused as their website definitely said that they do laser mole removal on faces and especially if the moles are small. I left wondering if I saw the wrong consultant.
