I need a going out top!

Help me, I have no idea where to shop anymore!

I need a top for next weekend, for a ‘smart’ party. I have some tight black trousers I can wear with some nice sandals, but I need a top and I have no idea where to shop now I am in my 40s as my usual clothes are gym kit or big comfy jumpers!

I am tall and thin with small boobs but get very bloated as soon as I eat anything so need something loose-ish (so I don’t look 5 months pregnant!) I like vest/camisole type things but no idea where to find a party-type one. I have tried Hush & Boden which is where I go for nicer stuff (that I rarely wear) and they don’t have anything! Not too bothered re the budget as long as it’s not into 3 figures!

Can anyone help?! I haven’t been ‘nice top’ shopping since about 2002 and wore stuff like someone from Atomic Kitten... I just don’t know where to go, and what is cool anymore

I'm afraid the camisole suggested is underwear to me but maybe I'm out of touch!

I bought this a while back. I love it. It's so flattering and would go with your trousers. I would say it's a dark teal/petrol blue (they also have pink but I'm allergic ha). It's timeless too.

I'm an hourglass and mine looks more fitted than the model's.

River island isn't my usual style but saw the red one in a hospital waiting room magazine and then found the cream bargain instore.

Usually more boden, jigsaw, Hobbs but felt decent for the price/amount of use.

The M&S top is also underwear to me. And to M&S - it's in their underwear section 😄.

The Jigsaw top has some pleats on the shoulder and it hangs beautifully. It was just one of those items that I knew as soon as I tried it on I loved it.

If you wear the M&S cami, you will have to lose the trousers 😀

Tesco have a lovely sparkly silver /black vest type top - sorry no link but saw it just last night!!
Would look great with back trousers.

Can't go wrong with Oasis. They always have a great selection of tops and shirts. I bought a fab navy shirt from there last week that I can wear out for the night with jeans & heels or to work with a black pencil skirt.

The Mint Velvet top is beautiful. Shame my size has sold out.

House of Fraser, Next and John lewis all stock mint velvet. You might find your size somewhere.
