Anyone gone from one length to having a fringe.

I don't want to go the botox route on my forehead frown lines so am thinking of going for a fringe. My hair is all one length with a few long layers, parted towards one side. I don't want a Claudia Winkleman but one that is at my natural parting.

Anyone taken the plunge? Do I do it gradually or just get it hacked off?

I get a fringe cut in periodically for exactly the reason you describe, and it definitely works for covering forehead lines. I just went straight for the chop each time, but I'm terrible at booking regular hair appointments so often let it grow out fully (sweeping it to one side in the in-between phase) before getting it chopped back in again.

My hair's all back to mostly the same length again now and your post is giving me the itch to get back to the salon...

I did and I had a hard time with it because my hair was so used to going over to the side it didn’t sit well in a fringe. I gave up and grew it out

I tried with a fringe but my hair just wouldn't sit right at all, so gave up.

My body has clearly decided that instead my eye sight should worsen at an alarming rate so I can't see the wrinkles Wink

I think it depends on what your hair is like. Mine is frizzy, which I forget at the hairdressers - I have one cut in, and forget about my hair type, then spend the next (what feels like) 20 years growing it out with an unattractive mane round my head that won’t tie back.

I do just take the plunge though! If you’re unsure, maybe get a long side fringe cut in so you can pin/tie/tuck it back if you don’t like it.
