I am going to try and make a beauty advent calendar for my 11 YO DD

and I was wondering if I could get some recommendations for inexpensive products (as I will need to buy 24!!) that are not a complete waste of money. She would probably like peel masks but I'm weary of what goes on her skin as she's only young, lip balms, subtle lipstick, subtle blusher and make up brushes, nail varnish, I don't know what else really. I am not hugely into make up myself so not sure where to look. She still a kid so loves cute things too. I would appreciate any recommendations/brands/websites.... thanks!

I am going to Holland and Barrett tomorrow, they have lovely hand made organic soaps. Lovely ideas re the emery boards and muslin clothes, etc. I am thinking an eye gel mask and sponges too. Not that I give a toss about what A580Hojas thinks but admittedly my DD will love mostly natural soaps and gels in addition to a couple of make up bits.

Hi OP it's a lovely idea, I've done similar for my DD now 10 for last 5 years and she still goes mad for it! Keep your eyes peeled in Primark too for their "red stickers " and you can get some good bargains. Have fun putting it together! Oh and don't forget a few chocolate coins to pad it out too!

My 11 year old has used face masks!

I was going to suggest Wilkos, this is a lovely idea and one I may follow myself. Claires has cute lipbalms and makeup but would be a bit expensive for that many items IMO, even on a 3 for 2 or whatever it is they usually do.

A lot of the magazines aimed at that age group give away mini nail varnishes and makeup on the cover so you could look out for those as well. DD got a mascara on one this week.

Another idea would be to stalk some beauty counters in the run up to Christmas and see how many testers you can bag of perfume/skincare/little make up bits. I used to find those irrationally exciting as a child! And they are so small you either hoard them or use them for play so doesn’t really matter if it’s not ‘age appropriate’ make up wise

Op, ignore the negative posters. I would have loved something like this as a young girl. I made my own dd personalized gift sets from trial sized products found at drugstores and online beauty shops.

OP snap! I'm planning on doing one for my daughter using my empty m&s beauty advent calendar from last year , refilling the boxes.

I've been keeping little sample sachets and perfume sprays etc aside. A couple of bits from the summer beauty box that weren't to my taste etc.

DD is 13 and I've just started a thread myself to ask advice on her spotty skin. She will absolutely love this and it will give her a wee boost as she's a bit down about her skin.

Ignore the miserable posters and enjoy spoiling your girl with little fun treasures. It's the kind of thing she will always remember you doing for her Smile

Ooh I've just remembered she loves foot baths so foot scrub, toe separators, etc. This is not going to be cheap...
