Doublebase gel

Doublebase gel was hailed in yesterday's Sunday Times Style magazine as a wonder product for easily absorbed daily body moisturising (£5 in Superdrug).
Being the sheep I am, I thought I would buy some: has anyone tried it?

It is so greasy, I would never use it by choice. Used it on my ds's eczema

Wellhellothere101 · 08/10/2018 13:50

Watching with interest-I saw Nadine Baggot recommended this too so I was going to buy some. DontFundHate are you thinking of the Doublebase cream? The gel doesn't look greasy at all.

Growingboys · 08/10/2018 13:51

Very average. Can't think what the fuss is about.

Bombardier25966 · 08/10/2018 13:52

I used to have it for eczema. It definitely leaves a film. I wouldn't use it by choice.

IdahoCrow · 08/10/2018 13:53

It soaks in so quickly, that 'greasy' appearance is actually illusory. It's wonderful stuff on dry skin. Very calming and moisturizing.

IdahoCrow · 08/10/2018 13:54

Maybe I have skin as dry as a desert :)

Wrybread · 08/10/2018 13:54

Great for dry skin on my face before I pop my primer and makeup on. I wouldn't use it on normal or oily skin though.

DontFundHate · 08/10/2018 14:20

I have the gel. I remember hating the feeling on my hands after rubbing it into Ds. Actually though my mother loves it so some people like it!

BillywigSting · 08/10/2018 14:24

I used it for ds's eczema (on the advice of dr) and its horrible.

Definitely leaves a greasy film and pills if you rub it in too much.

I switched ds to the moisturiser I use for mine (from dream cream from lush or aveeno) and binned the doublebase.

Certainly wouldn't recommend it.

scaredofthecity · 08/10/2018 14:55

It is awesomeGrin.

Don't confuse it with diprobase... nasty greasy stuff.

florriepeck · 08/10/2018 17:21

Mixed opinions, then.
Still, might be worth a try for a fiver, just in case it is the future.

This is the one that is recommended. It looks really watery. Plus it was recommended for use on the body and not your face. I think I’ll try it too as it’s only a fiver!

Doublebase gel
Wrybread · 08/10/2018 18:29

Oh yes, not the same as diprobase!

I just put a small amount on. It goes a long way.

I also use ameliorate and that's like magic on my skin

stoplickingthetelly · 08/10/2018 22:01

This is great for my ds eczema and we've tried lots of things.

cardoon · 09/10/2018 11:30

It really isn't watery - it's a kind of mousse gel consistency and the the item that is sub 4.79 is only 100g. I love it for my itchy shins!
