Who or what do you aim to look like on a night out?

I’m about to get ready for a rare night out. My sense of style is so mixed- like the safe Hush look but I used to be more edgy but I’m early 40s and can’t get away with the kind of look I used to...

Anyway what kind of look do you go for on a night out?

Thank you - I really like the idea of a going out playsuit but haven’t seen any - has anyone seen some?

I think that sounds nice Zippy, very stylish and trendy.

Thanks. I could do with some proper killer heels to edge it up a bit. Mine were fairly safe and I think things like that can make all the difference.

Yes, they certainly do, I always wear at least 3" heels when I go out - they set off any outfit - even a fairly low key ensemble comes to life with a pair of high heels.

I live in London where no one dresses up.

So I wear clothes. Grin

Nobody really wears heels any more, not around here anyway.

My last evening out (birthday in a bar, DJ, dancing) I wore a short sleeved jumpsuit with heels. ASOS or new look has loads. I can’t do the skimpy dress or jeans and a cami thing any more.

too young to give up and be totally plain.

Is that what we're supposed to do? Give up and be totally plain? I couldn't disagree more! 😁

I don’t even own heels, and tend to wear a slightly “fancier” version of daytime stuff. My last night out I wore a short-ish a-line leather skirt, skinny-rib fine-knit striped jumper, opaque tights, and chunky brogues. I wear a lot of culottes, trainers, and in summer midi length dresses. Always red lipstick. (I think I probably go to less dressy places than the rest of the posters on this thread.)

Depends on the occasion but I love:
A structured/nipped in waist jacket (blazer or leather biker style);
Jersey wrap dress (insp by Diane von Furstenberg) to hug in all the right places and swish on the dance floor;
silky frock or blouse;
Wide leg trousers or jeans with clingy delicate knitwear or silk blouse;
Maxi "Hostess Dress"; A line midi dress/skirt;
Big hair or alternatively high bun;
Synthetic orchid in the hair (only in summer/at a party or club);
I just love a 70s style look...a 40's look...a 70s does 40's look...
