Trainers.... GG, Veja, Victoria - what ones to get?

Hi,

Looking for trainers for everyday outfits.

GG so expensive - do I really need those?

Don't want to look crazy, just on trend (for a 40ish old lady)!
What would you go for ?

I haven't heard of GG or Victoria, but I love Vejas, DD and I are having matching pairs for Christmas. A friend has some and says they are unbelievably comfy. I think Vejas are pretty ageless as they are so plain and classic, certainly suitable in your 40s and much much cooler than sketchers etc.

My current favourites are Supergas and Onitsuka Tigers. They both work well for day to day.

yes I've had supergas for years but need something new.
What about air&grace?

I have loads of Vejas, they are comfy but not as comfy as my Stan Smiths! The leather is quite hard and they aren’t as bouncy as the SS’s. they are cool though, imo cooler than GG or Air and Grace which just scream try hard to me!

Yeah GG are a bit “person who doesn’t wear trainers but wants to be on trend” for me. Stan Smiths, Nike’s & comme de garçon Comverse are my faves. Just bought some velvet Superga flatforms on sale which are lovely.

the stan smiths I am put of as every girl from 12 years old is wearing the same 1 or 2 pairs

this is true of most things these days unfortunately but you can get different colour ways & I think campus is a new but similar style.

Vejas are great. I love mine.

Thinking of some dark coloured Nikes for winter but not sure which to get - anyone got any thoughts?

Air and Grace - I ordered some and they just felt weird on so I sent them back. A bit disappointing, but they were more expensive than my Vejas and IMO not as cool so I didn't mind.

Yes batshite this is my problem. I am still loving white trainers but as I cycle to work in all weathers this is not sensible.

But what Nikes/others shall I go for? I'm only liking the pale ones atm...

I just bought the black adidas i posted from Cocosa as I thought they were practical for AW.

Re Nike’s do you like Theas, they are comfortable & look nice in black. Air Max 97 & 95 are back but expensive & I wore them as a teenager 😟

I bought some Veja earlier in the summer and ended up selling them on eBay. They made my feet look really wide, wasn’t a fan at all. What I ended up settling with was a pair of navy Nike Air Max 97s, which are so lovely and comfy, but plain enough to go with anything. It’s made me fell really old though, as I originally wanted a pair in 1997 when they came out, but as a poor student I couldn’t justify it .

Ha! Peraltiago! I am going to stalk some navy Air Maxs now.
