Wellington boots to match my new coat?

Hi,

I've just ordered this coat for winter. I need some wellies for dog walking but not sure what colour to go with.

I tried hunter wellies on in TKMaxxand my calves were too fat Blush

So I don't know if Hunter wellies are skinny?? Or if I need wide calf wellies?

Any suggestions?

I used to have Huntress wellies (which are Hunter’s wide fit ladies wellies). They were fine for occasional use but did not withstand me getting a very active breed working dog and the associated increase in walking. I also cracked the tops of them by driving in them Blush. TBH I would not recommend Hunters generally - I don’t think that they are terribly well made compared to other similar priced boots.

I now have the Le Chameau Vierzonord neoprene lined wellies. I bought the men’s ones as they are identical to the women’s except with a wider foot and calf which is perfect for me. They have lasted 8 years so far, used daily throughout Autumn and winter (and wet days in spring too!). Quite expensive but completely worth it. Comfortable, warm, and great grip.

(And wellies should be green).

They are gorgeous but really out of my price range.

TBH the £50 reduced hunters in tkmaxx were about my budget so will have to look at cheap alternatives x

For around the £50 mark (or less - they do lots of good offers) I think the Joules wellies are really quite good. They are also a bit wider than Hunters. So they might well be worth a look. SIL has a pair and really rates them. I’m sure you could get a really nice pair for sensible money - I know mine were a splurge but I wear them so much that I felt I could justify it.

Would these work for you maybe? www.joules.com/Women/Wellies/Printed/Wellies/Grape-Leaf-Bircham-Bloom?id=Z_WELLYPRNT|GPLBBLM

Or if they are too busy with your coat (they might be a bit) these would look lovely - simple and classy - www.joules.com/Women/Wellies/Field-Welly/With-Adjustable-Back-Gusset/Olive?id=202848|OLIVE

Either way the code SAVE10 looks like it ought to knock 10% off.

If you can find them reduced, Aigle do lovely wellies: a proper rugged sole for walking and wide tops that you tighten with a buckle.

You could try muck boots

I might be able to up my budget a little as it's almost my birthday...

Will keep looking

Have a look at Land's End: their stuff is reasonable and good quality.

I can’t figure out how to link from my phone but there is a pair of plain black glossy wellies on Asda website with a gold glitter sole which would look fantastic with the coat, and they are only £15.

I love these!!
