Ugly Shoe Query- Ugg, Emu or Celtic Sheepskin?

DH wants to get me a pair of mid-height sheepskin boots for Christmas so I have warm shoes that I can slip on during late pregnancy (due in March).

I had a pair of Uggs ages ago, but I'm balking at the price for what are pretty ugly shoes. Does anyone know any alternative brands that are decent quality but don't cost the earth?

I'm thinking of a pair as slippers, so bumping for you

Before you get actual sheepskin I would research the ethics of it and decide if it’s something you want to support.

Plenty of alternatives. If you like the overall look of Uggs but want something a bit smarter, how about www.beyond-skin.com/misty-black-vegan-sheepskin-boots.html which are also sold in brown!

Shepherd (Swedish) from footway. Based in Europe but arrive within two days and free returns.

I have the Celtic sheepskin ones and I love them. I’ve had them at least five years, possibly longer and because I work from home, I wear them for about ten hours a day from September to May. There’s been no sagging, or otherwise falling out of shape. The sole has flattened but they’re still very comfortable. They were £100 when I got mine (also a Christmas present) but it’s one of the most used presents I’ve ever had.

I have also washed them in the machine and they come up fine. They do flatten inside though, they come with instructions as they will feel too tight when you get them.

Do you like anywhere near an outlet like Cheshire oaks or Bicester? I had uggs almost half price from Cheshire oaks a couple of years ago, and bought the slippers for a bargain too!

I'm with you they are ugly and personally very rarely worn now, but when I was heavily pregnant last Jan/Feb I bloody loved them.

Have a look for Schu Imperfections.

It's where schu sell off shop soiled stuff. I have just bought a pair of uggs for the school run for £50. I don't mind if they only last 1 winter for that, they are warm and comfy and although still fugly, they do the job.

I love my ugly Emu boots. They seem to have proper support on the insteps and they have lasted better than any of my pairs of Uggs.

TK Maxx have sheepskin boots online for £39.99. Something like Cloud boots

I second everything Eeshewasthin has said! Celtic have been amazing, I live in mine(in the house!) and they are about 6 or 7 years old.

dinosaurkisses · 04/10/2018 15:55

Thanks everyone! Going to have a proper look at Celtic and Emu now.

Uggs are fine and everything but I just begrudge spending £165 on shoes that are essentially going to be my glorified slippers!

If you have membership to Costco then have a look at the Kirkland sheepskin boots. They are identical to Uggs and are only about £30. Mine have lasted years and still look good, well good for ugly boots. I wear mine around the house as slippers and they are so cosy.
