Is Clinique foundation worth the money?

I usually use Boots No7 but am thinking of trying Clinique but its almost double the price. I do use their eyeliner because I find it the best but the foundation seems very expensive.

It's not the best I've used...depends what it's for...Estee lauder double wear is by far the best I've used however I can't use it everyday because it dries my skin....they do have a lighter one but I've not tried that...Charlotte tilbury light wonder is fab for every day

I tried one that comes in a thick glass bottle. The foundation is great but very hard to get of the bottle, the opening is odd and I can see lots going to waste.

SlB09 · 03/10/2018 19:43

Yes yes & yes! Lovely natural coverage and suits combination skin

VickieCherry · 03/10/2018 19:48

I'm not keen, but I have a friend who loves it. Best to go to a counter and have them colour match you, put some on so you can see how it sits, and take home a sample to try for yourself.

I prefer Bobbi Brown Longwear or Estee Lauder Doublewear, both with a very light later. I have quite oily skin.

Go to the counter and ask them to apply it. Then wear it for the day and see how you get on. Don’t be pushed into buying it the same day.

For what it’s worth I love it (but don’t wear it every day because it’s expensive). And their moisture surge moisturiser. And their high impact mascara.

I have tried loads of different foundations and this one is okay, not the worst but definitely not a WOW one.

TSSDNCOP · 03/10/2018 19:51

Yes, but mines the one in a pink tube

WrongKindOfFace · 03/10/2018 19:52

I really like their Even Better foundation. It doesn’t last amazing well, but it does make my skin look less shit.

Definitely try it for the day before buying.

bebesequin · 03/10/2018 19:52

Tried them all Chanel Dior Mac Tilbury ….
Cheap ones
Custom blend ones.
Always come back to Clinique

Superfit was the best ever but discontinued- now Even Better -it's ok.

Coffeepot72 · 03/10/2018 20:33

I used Clinique foundation for years, until I discovered Boots No 7 (just as good, sometimes better, and about half the price)!!

caffelatte100 · 03/10/2018 21:17

Funnily enough, I love both clinique and no 7. You can't go much wrong with either of these so long as the colour matches ok and you get the type you want. I used clinique for ages and was very happy with quite a few different ones, the one in the glass bottle and superfit I think it was called.

I now love the no 7 one with the serum in, with the black lid and pump. Really handy and it glides on, filling any little gaps in my skin. I think I like it as much as clinique actually. Looks so dewy and natural. Which no 7 one did you have?

DragonScales · 03/10/2018 21:24

Most of my makeup is from clinique, love their eye shadows and mascara. Also use the 3 step facewash, toner and dramatically different gel. Love it all. However I cannot get on with their foundation - it just doesn't sit right on my skin. I use ysl foundation or este lauder.

You can go to the counter, get colour matched and ask for a few days worth of sample in a pot. Wear it every day for a few days and see how you get on before you buy it

citygirl1961 · 03/10/2018 21:32

I have the No7 essentially natural foundation in the tube. I've looked at the one with the serum in (Lift and Luminate) but it has poor reviews on the Boots website. Which shade do you use?

madyogafan · 03/10/2018 22:43

I use the clinique redness solutions and I love it. I have mild rosacea and it covers the red areas without looking heavy It also lasts me ages...sometimes a whole year as I don't use loads.

Coffeepot72 · 04/10/2018 11:23

Another plus point for Boots No 7, is their colour matching service. They hold some sort of small camera device next to your face, and the correct shade is 'calculated.' And it works. I would never have picked "Cool Beige" as I thought it looked too dark in the bottle, but it's perfect when applied.

QueenoftheNights · 04/10/2018 13:01

I don't think you can ask 'Is it worth the money' without saying what you want in a foundation.

I can't use Boots No 7 because even their calico is too dark for me and looks pink/grey on my skin.

I have to buy high end foundation because I have very fair, neutral shade of skin.

I have used Clinique a lot but they mucked about with the pale shades. I am using their new one- in a plastic bottle- supposed to be illuminating. In the palest shade it's till a bit pink for me.

I use Dior Star mainly @£35 and that makes Clinique look cheap! A bottle lasts 6 months so I don't consider it expensive.

ipadbabysitter · 04/10/2018 13:30

Yes - I have worn their Even Better for the last 5 years. Have tried others but always come back to it
