Blonde home hair dye

Has anyone ever successfully dyed their hair blonde using a box dye? I’ve looked at Garnier Olia and Bleach London No Bleach Bleach as these don’t contain ammonia.

My hair is mousey brown with old bleach blonde ends from a balyage.

Any success stories?

Hope the OP doesn't mind me resurrecting this but I am wondering the exact same thing, and have exactly the same hair colour right down to the old balayage on the ends!

Ideally I don't want a flat colour but with a few highlights. But don't want the expense and time consumed by six weekly highlights trips to hairdressers.

Hope someone with knowledge or experience of home hair dyes can help...

Tone-on-tone ones. Maybe someone can recommend one.
