Perfume .. why is everything either over the top or fades immediately :(

I'm looking for a nice light perfume that doesn't fade immediately. I like slightly sweet but not too much ... i like Hugo Boss The Scent, Armani Si ... but they can be a bit heavy at first, or a bit sickly. Light ones (usually cheap) seem to fade almost immediately.

Any recommendations? Unfortunately I can't spend much but often buy those refillable ones on eBay, hoping they're legit!

You know it's not that the smell fades immediately it's that your body adjusts to it and doesn't regard it as a threat/worth smelling any more? Others can probably still smell it.

Maybe a bit 90s but I looooove Cerruti 1881. It's inoffensive and lasts all day (unlike my other love Jo Malone Sad).

I know what you mean!

I am older and remember the good old days of eighties knock-out strength perfume Grin It's all watered down now and so many ingredients banned that old classics have changed and not for the better. Used to be a YSL Paris fan. It's just a shadow of its former self now.

I want to try Guerlain Insolence - it's been around for a while. Supposed to be very strong sillage and smells of violets which I love. I live rurally, so not easy for me to test things in-store.

I like Armani Code, and it seems to stay fairly constant over the day. I do only need one squirt of it though, as I think too much would be overpowering.
