Would you recommend it for everyday wear? I'm desperate to replace my old tatty leather crossbody and have my eye on this beauty: www.harveynichols.com/brand/bao-bao-issey-miyake/273119-lucent-two-tone-cross-body-bag/p3166741/

I haven't got one but I very much like it.

I really wanted to get one last year but then saw all the fakes on eBay and street vendors in Rome when I was on holidays and was put off by it! I think they’re really cool, I really like the tote bag in white.

Pythone · 01/10/2018 10:37

I have one and love it! I use it most days as it's just so easy to carry. I have a smaller one than that, but it holds quite a lot. I love the way it changes shape all the time!

thefirstmrsdewinter · 01/10/2018 11:09

Thanks all. I think I'll pop into Matches later and have a look.

Pythone yes, it looks like a very useful design. I have an envelope clutch which is tidy and lightweight but it gets distorted if I add a lip gloss. I have a couple of vintage leather Coach satchels which hold more but I don't like the bulk and weight. The Bao bao looks like a good compromise, and I love the way it sparkles in the light.

This is the one I have: www.selfridges.com/GB/en/cat/bao-bao-issey-miyake-prism-clutch-bag_485-78050774-BB88AG044/?previewAttribute=Black

It's so easy to carry with the wrist strap. I've been really surprised at how versatile it is.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 01/10/2018 22:09

There were none that I could see in Matches so I had a look in Selfridges and they had a few, then walking to Bond St tube there's a stall selling loads of fakes, which to be fair also looked good. :)

I'm hung up on the colour. I wear colourful shoes so just thinking what would best sit with that. I love a white bag but already have one which I use quite a bit.

Sorry but i really don't like them. Unless the pictures dont do them justice i thinkthey look quite cheap and nasty.

But then my bag is cath kidstone - but it was cheap!

Maybe if i saw one in real life.

Mercurial123 · 02/10/2018 08:37

I have two and love them. Have had plenty of compliments. I have a Matt black one which is the larger size and a silver in the smaller size. There is a good selection on FarFetch.

Mercurial123 · 02/10/2018 08:38

They really do not look cheap and nasty though I hate KK.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 02/10/2018 13:46

Mercurial123 hmm yes.

Farfetch is good, Harvey Nichols has some of the more colourful options, Selfridges has mostly neutral colours (maybe that's the new line?).

Don't look here unless you have the time to do it justice. :)

Love the painting pattern but probably too expensive for my budget. I was in Tokyo earlier this year they are a third cheaper in Japan. Didn't bother going to the store as I was told you have to queue for hours and unless you get there early they sell out of the popular styles the same day.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 02/10/2018 16:55

Yes, I heard that too re queuing in Tokyo. Did you not buy a bag in Japan then? Or did you buy in a way that didn't involve queueing iyswim?

We plan a trip to Japan in a vague way - in the next couple of years - and I'm wondering what the queuing sitch is like outside of Tokyo.

I've had a look on Amazon Japan just to get an idea of prices and the pieces I want (crossbody mainly, and clutch) are just a little cheaper than here, maybe £20 less.

thefirstmrsdewinter I got both of my bags from FarFetch at a really good price. I couldn't really justify buying a third and I didn't want to waste time queuing. I didn't check prices but have read they are quite a bit cheaper in Japan.

I like them

Notquiteagandt · 02/10/2018 19:16

I have one of the original tote design ones. Its ok but I find the handle very short on it tbh. Its a petrol colour. So versitile for livening up a black outfit. Unsure if it was a limeted edition colour though.
