Uniqlo merino crew necks

Can anyone advice re sizing for these? Their size calculator is telling me to get XXL. Would that be likely to be correct do you think? I normally wear a 14 on top because of the size of my chest (32k) but I would say a 12 is more accurate in clothing with give. I don’t want them clingy though.

They come up small in my experience. I currently have size M and L and am 8/10/12. The L is baggier, but I would still say it's more like a 10/12 rather than a 14/16 you'd imagine a L was!
I have some uniqlo size L t-shirts...I am not a L on top. Could you buy and send some back? Try l/XL/XXL and see what's best...there's sometimes just a small difference.

A lot of it is good stuff. I wish most of what I want wasn't sold out by the time I get paid.

Ah, thanks for that. I may have to order multiple sizes - I hate sitting out loads of money waiting for returns to be processed but might just have to grit my teeth and order a few sizes rather than a few colours first time.

IME Uniqlo returns are really quick and efficient compared to other brands. And I agree with WowOoo, the sizes come up small. I'm a 12-14 up top so take L or XL. Ordering multiple sizes is the way to go - just imagine all that lovely money coming back into your account.

Yes the sizes come up small. I’m a 10 and wear uniqlo medium and it’s a fairly tight fit.

Xiaoxiong · 30/09/2018 00:21

I'm a large 10/small 12 and wear L in uniqlo merino tops and sometimes XL depending on how fitted I want it.

ConsiderHerWaysAndOthers · 30/09/2018 03:56

Size 6-8 here and wear a small. I find the merino comes up smaller than the cashmere though, it also depends what kind of fit you want. So definitely size up but you might have to try a few sizes before you find what’s right. Worth it though, I love Uniqlo knitwear.

7salmonswimming · 30/09/2018 04:17

Yes they come up small. They cater principally for their home market, Japan. At a size 10, I was a L when I lived there.

SpeckledyHen · 30/09/2018 07:30

Size 14 due to 32G - XL fit well .

Sammysquiz · 30/09/2018 07:55

I’m a size 10/12 and wear a size M. What colours are you getting?

CatherineMaitland · 30/09/2018 08:10

Seconding Uniqlo returns process being quick and efficient.

NotAnotherJaffaCake · 30/09/2018 08:23

I’ve just bought the boat neck merino jumper and had to send the medium back as it was too big - I’m a 10/12 with no boobs. I also ordered the merino dress in medium and was swamped. I was surprised as I have Uniqlo down as generally coming up small but I was swamped.

StarkintheSouth · 30/09/2018 08:30

Their sizes are small. I’m a 10 generally but I have to wear large Uniqlo sweaters otherwise they cling too much. But I love them!!!

Lotsofsausage · 30/09/2018 11:51

I'm a 14 and wear XL in the crew neck, fits well, pretty snug so good for work with smart trousers etc..... if I wanter a looser fit I would go XXL.

SoupMode · 30/09/2018 11:58

I'm a size 10 or 12 depending on the shop, and wear an M in uniqlo knitwear, but don't have big boobs to accommodate.

I recently bought a duffle coat from there in an M and had to send it back as it was massive. I reordered in an XS and it fits perfectly, but I'm under no illusion that I'm actually an XS.

ArkAtEee · 30/09/2018 17:53

The merino stuff is small, smaller than their other knitwear and definitely smaller than their other clothes.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/09/2018 18:43

I'm a 32g, and on the recommendation of their online sizing guide, just received two cashmere v-necks in XL. They fit pretty much perfectly - I'd said on the size guide I'd wanted them slightly loose, and that's exactly what they are.

ravensmum · 30/09/2018 18:49

Just chiming in to say that I LOVE uniqlo and they are so great but yes sizing bonkers. Am size 12 top, 14 bottom and just returning a large long puffer coat as it is enormous! Did a mammoth order the other day and returning quite a bit so good to hear they’re efficient.

ilovecherries · 30/09/2018 22:24

I’ve order a boatneck merino in M/L/XL and a crew neck in L/XL/XXL so will let you know how it goes. I was reluctant to buy multiple sizes as conversely I’ve found their refunds slow - heading for three weeks on the only other occasion I’ve bought. But I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s down to hermes. I live very rurally and I don’t think they pick up at the parcelshop every day.

Generally agree that their clothes are usually small (or rather traditional sizing!), I'm a 10 and fit their M but the last couple of jumpers I've bought have been big.

I’ve just bought the boat neck merino jumper and had to send the medium back as it was too big - I’m a 10/12 with no boobs.

I'm a 10 and the M boat neck merino was ENORMOUS on me (baggy round the hips). I now have the XS but it's maybe a slightly neater fit than the style warrants and I probably should have got the S for a loose fit. Whereas my boatneck last year was a M and a good fit.

ilovecherries · 03/10/2018 14:50

Reporting back. Well, none of the 6 jumpers actually fitted me Angry. The boat necks were so huge a small would have done. The crew necks were ridiculously big on my shoulders, but straining over the chest - all except the XXL, which was just hanging everywhere. I also got one of those ultralight jackets for wearing under a coat. Currently have an XL which I bought last year and is far too big on me. Ordered a L, and it wouldn’t do up. Maybe uniqlo just can’t cope with huge boobs.

OP posts:
7salmonswimming · 03/10/2018 23:25

I agree with you. They cater for small boobs and no hips. I’m small by European standards, so I’m fine on top, but nothing fits around the hips without being too wide and long elsewhere. Now I only go to uniqlo for merino wool sweaters and accessories.

CountFosco · 04/10/2018 19:14

I don't know what happened with the boat necks this year. They were about 2 sizes smaller last year and the neckline was much nicer! Some of the Ines de la Fressange jumpers were too big in the Spring as well.
