What to wear on a Mums' Night Out?

Hi there,

So our antenatal group is having a "Mums'" Night Out this weekend and I am unsure of what exactly to wear? The plan is dinner then drinks at a few bars.

Take away the label "Mums" and I still wouldn't be too sure what to wear for this sort of thing!

Oh also, only shop I can realistically get to in time is Tesco's! Unless there is somewhere with reliable next day delivery?

TIA x

maybe something like this with black jeans?

www.joules.com/Women/Tunics/Odelle/V-neck-Tunic/French-Navy-Star?id=Z_ODELLE|FNVSTAR

they do next day delivery for an extra 5 pounds.

Black opaque tights, heeled boots, smart-ish skirt, lightweight knit jumper and statement jewellery. But it depends whether it decides to be autumn or Indian summer this weekend!

It sounds casual and not too dressy so I think what pp suggested sounds good too.

Boots jeans and a blazer over a vest type top I.e loose fitting type top

Have a look on Asos.

Get online and stump for next day delivery. I second the recommendation of ASOS. But you can’t go wrong with the classic of black jeans, nice top (maybe a camisole style) and a blazer/leather jacket. Or a dress with black opaques and a denim jacket is my other standard go to.

Skinny Jeans and a fab top or a pair of wet look leggings. Plus heels, got to have heels.

Thank you all!

So I've rummaged my wardrobe and think I do have a nice pair of jeans but theyre blue, is that okay?

If not I've actually a really nice, simple LBD.

Failing that I can certainly make a dash to Tescos in lunch break today and rummaged for a suggested outfit.

I've choice of black heeled ankle boots or black heels. I think I actually need a handbag the too! Can't exactly take the changing bag lol

Gladys123 looks gorgeous! I can't get away with jumpsuits though as I'm too short for regular ones but too tall for petite range!

sleepismysuperpower1 I think I would feel too mumsy in that, especially as I'm only in my early twenties!

Think that's why part of me is stressing actually. I'm a good 10 years younger than the average age of the group going out. I always feel so young next to everyone else. I want to dress my age and make most of my assets but same time I don't want to look young and immature!

I think you should wear whatever you want and feel happy in. These people are your friends and I'm sure if they are good friends they won't judge you by what you wear.

Smurfybubbles · 28/09/2018 06:48

I agree with the pp wear whatever you are comfortable in! If I was going out tonight (fat chance of that happening) I'd wear what I used to wear out pre DC so if casual jeans and a top or a dress if a little more fancy. These people are your friends and will be more concerned with you company than what you're wearing! Enjoy yourself Grin

TwittleBee · 28/09/2018 09:17

Yeah you are right, they are my friends! I guess I just feel like I havent been out with them before like this etc

Jeans, Chelsea boots/heels and a smart top.

spanishwife · 28/09/2018 09:40

If you don't want to look mumsy and want to dress your age, then I personally wouldn't recommend Tesco as a clothes shopping destination. If you are in your twenties then ASOS is your go to.

I think your blue jeans, with a cute cami top under a leather jacket... or a pretty blouse in a dark colour and some heels would look great. Get a little clutch bag from ASOS

TwittleBee · 28/09/2018 09:56

Right I actually have had a good think about what I have and made a dash to Tescos already before work.

I've just grabbed a decent black bra, a nice statement necklace and some new black tights. Didn't find a good enough clutch. But I am sure I must have something half decent at home.

I'm gonna wear the LBD and boots! Along with my bomber jacket I think
