Straightener recommendations

My daughter has just left for university and unfortunately for her could not take my GHDs along with her! I am buying her some new straighteners for herself, but I am not convinced that GHDs are as good as they used to be. Any recommendations?

Bumping as I'd be interested to hear what others say too. I'm contemplating a new GHD after 10 years with an original model. But I have heard the same things.
I've been contemplating a Cloud 9.

I'm thinking of buying Cloud 9 too.
Had previous GHDs since 2009, which were wonderful until they died a few weeks ago. Ordered a new pair from GHD a fortnight ago and returned them (got full refund) after two uses, as they were catching/dragging on my hair...which the old ones never did. They definitely are nowhere near as good quality as they once were.

Another kipozi user here too. I've had ghd for years and wanted a cheap pair to take away with me, I use them more than my ghd as you can control the heat better.

Thanks all! I had heard Cloud 9 was really good. I have never heard of Kipozi, but may be tempted by those, she is a teenager and breaks things at an alarming rate, so cheaper is always welcome!

Cloud 9! They are like the first gen GHDs

Apparently the original GHD people left and formed Cloud 9, which is why Cloud 9 are like the old GHDs, and GHD have gone downhill. Not sure where I heard that or how true it is though Wink

I've had a really cheap set of Nikki Clarke hair straighteners for a few years and they've been absolutely fantastic - even my best friend (who has had ghds her whole life) said that she really liked them. Halo

I've just bought Kipozis. My hairstyles lasted an extra day so I'm happy.
