Does eyelash tinting really make a difference?

Honey1975 · 26/09/2018 21:03

I was looking at a lady in a meeting today and her eyes really stood out. Her eyelashes looked lovely and defined although it didn't look like she was wearing mascara. I wondered if she might have them tinted.

I on the other hand had my usual black mascara (Clarins so not even cheap!) smudged all around my eye area making me look tired and messy.

I've never tried eyelash tinting as not sure it would make a difference on my already brown eyelashes.
Can anyone tell me about it and if you think it's worth paying for? I am fed up of the panda look!

Yes! I love it!

I don’t get it done all that often, but always before going on holiday. Makes a massive difference to my lashes.

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 26/09/2018 21:07

Did she not have a lash lift? Check out LVL when you have this down your lashes are permed and stay lovely and curly for weeks.

Gingernaut · 26/09/2018 21:07

Definitely.

White facial hair means if I don't dye my eyebrows and eyelashes, I look strange.

With my pink face, my eyebrows look like little white islands and my apparent lack of eyelashes make me look piggy.

Honey1975 · 26/09/2018 21:10

Thanks, how long does it last for and are they dyed black or brown, top & bottom?

I feel it makes a great difference, but also that it doesn't last very long. Hard to do right at home.

PicInAttic · 26/09/2018 21:20

I have mine permed and tinted every 6 -10 weeks depending on holidays and t how organised I am in booking.
I always get general comments to do with how well I look when they've been done so would say def makes a difference.

Oblomov18 · 26/09/2018 21:21

Have mine dyed occasionally, blue-black. Makes a huge difference because I have very long, curly eyelashes.

I also, less regularly, have my eyebrows dyed as well. That too makes a big difference.

Why not try it. What's the worst that could happen?

Honey1975 · 26/09/2018 21:31

Yes I think I will try it. Be nice to be able to give the mascara a miss for a bit. Thanks all.

I do this, it's really great. Nice at weekends when I don't wear as much make up too.

Gardai · 26/09/2018 22:29

I buy the blue black eyelash tint from amazon and do them every 4-6 weeks. A lot cheaper than beautician - also do my own eyebrows with the dark brown.

ICantBelieveIDidThis · 26/09/2018 22:35

Eyebrows are light brown

Eyelashes are black - top and bottom.

Didsomeonesaybunny · 26/09/2018 22:35

I always find the dye wears off far too quickly and doesn’t make that much of a difference. I’ve had LVL in the past and that’s made a noticeable difference. Have also had lash extensions but I couldn’t be bothered with the maintenance and they looked slightly fake.

SassitudeandSparkle · 26/09/2018 22:38

I do this (not often enough) as I am very fair and it does make a difference IMO. However, it doesn't thicken your lashes as mascara does, so it's not exactly the same effect.

Barbayagar · 26/09/2018 22:44

Does this make a lot of difference if you're naturally dark haired and with dark eyelashes (as in dark brown, not black)?

Judydreamsofhorses · 26/09/2018 22:52

I tint brows and lashes at home with Strictly Professional dye from Amazon. I do it about once a month. I still use mascara on top lashes for some oomph most days for work, or for going out.

AtlasQueen · 27/09/2018 02:06

It could be a professional natural looking fake eyelashes? I get this and it works without looking silly

Love51 · 28/09/2018 07:02

It is really easy to diy with an eyelure kit (superdrug sell them). I got mine done in a salon the first time and keep it up by myself. I wear contact lenses and swim a lot, so I was aiming to look more 'awake' without mascara. As pp said it doesn't thicken, so I still wear mascara if doing full make up. Also it says s month between applications, I go more like 3 weeks.

Skimbleskanks · 28/09/2018 07:06

People who do it at home, any tips? Do you just apply it like mascara or do you need your eyes closed?

Rhinofeet · 28/09/2018 07:14

I love having my eyelashes tinted. I have very long lashes but they are light grey.

For those tinting at home, please would you be able to share the link of what you use from amazon? I have tried in the past but it's never really worked with the stuff you but from Boots. Smile

RubyBoots7 · 28/09/2018 07:45

You really don't need to get someone else to dye them, it's so easy. And for them to look good it ideally needs to be done regularly (every 2-4w), so would cost a fortune at a salon. You can buy the same salon dye and peroxide solution for less than £10 at a beauty suppliers and that will last you several months. Takes couple of mins for brows and ~10mins lashes. Do a patch test first because it's your eyes! Can put it on with anything that has a small end that works for you...stripped down cotton bud, mascara wand type thing. Be mindful of hygiene with eyes and washing or throwing away bits. I don't close my eyes or use shields or anything, I'm just careful not to get it in my eyes (though I have done in the past and it wasn't a big deal for me...others might be sensitive).

I do think that although you can perm/LVL them at home, it's far more difficult and I would pay for that at a salon personally.

RubyBoots7 · 28/09/2018 07:48

It really doesn't look the same as mascara, but it does make your eyes slightly more defined when make up free. If you want really popping lashes without mascara then LVL is your - expensive but amazing - friend. I personally prefer to extensions as it's your own lashes bent rather than the feel of extensions attached IYSWIM.

HereBirdies · 28/09/2018 07:52

I've just had an Elleebanna (sp?) lash lift done and I love it. I never leave the house without mascara as I look piggy eyed but this makes a huge difference. They're lifted and tinted, I wouldn't say they look like I'm wearing mascara but they look 'done' if that makes sense?

Athena51 · 28/09/2018 16:54

I''m dark and have long, dark lashes but they are super straight. I have LVL lashes and have them tinted and the difference is incredible-I look 10 times better and hardly have to wear eye makeup. Honestly, it's almost life-changing 😉

parrotonmyshoulder · 29/09/2018 12:21

Bumping this in case anyone has good recommendations of a kit to buy. I usually have brow and lash tint at a salon but it’s so expensive. I’m scared of the really dark eyebrow look though.Thanks.

batshite1 · 29/09/2018 12:27

Any recommendations of where to go for LVL?
