Wool skirt

I live pretty much year round in these little jersey mini skirts that I pick up for a steal in h&m and primark. They are devillishly comfy, move when I need to move (child with SN) and are actually reasonably smart when needed.

What would really like though is a wool version for winter. Something like a simple warm wool knit thats just a little bit warmer but isn't solid and digs in when your wrestling an octopus helping DS. I cannot find anything. Happy quality skirt if it is perfect, but equally happy with acrylic too. Main thing is comfortable and smart. Im looking but I just can't find anything.

I used to wear ones like that a long time ago and with opaques tights they are very easy to wear. Mine were from M&S but about 20 yrs ago.
Have you tried searching online for tube skirts? I'd be surprised if you couldn't find one in main supermarket ranges, prim... etc

Justgivemeasoddingname · 26/09/2018 21:49

Watching with interest as I just need skirts but also want to buy stuff from h&m etc as on a tight budget!!

MikeUniformMike · 26/09/2018 21:49

I still have the M&S one. I wonder if I could still wear it.
You could wear warmer tights if you are feeling the cold.
I think the patterned ones are good with a 'woolly' jumper and boots.
A knitted pinafore might work too.

I have a knitted pencil skirt from Winser London that lets Merino after my toddler, but is also smart enough for work.
I bought it last year, and wore it loads!
I am looking forward to wearing it again this year.

JaceLancs · 26/09/2018 22:37

I bought a merino wool one from East online xxxxx

BananaBonanza · 28/09/2018 08:16

You'd think it would be easy to find but it seems not. I'm not seeing anything on all the usual suspects (M&s H&M etc). The odd wool skirt but more structured and not of the wiggle-able tube variety

Omg! That knitted pencil skirt from winser is absolutely perfect, but but about £40 more than what I could afford to pay for on even the most perfect skirt ever. Sigh. I have skirt envy.

Yeah I'm good on the warm tights. Primarks velvet lined leggings are perfect. So technically I don't really NEEED a wool skirt.... but if I'm out in near zero it would be nicer.

eBay is worth a rummage for this sort of hankering.

Try reserved.com , also Bershka have a pull on stretch cord skirt (knee length though) that might fit the bill

BananaBonanza · 28/09/2018 10:12

@thedevilinablackdress I've tried eBay but its hard to know what you've getting before you order on this. I bought something got the skirt and found it wasn't right at all. Would prefer something I could try on.

@Member a cord skirt might well work. Do you have a link? There's so many nice cord skirts I'm having trouble finding the right one

This is reserved one www.reserved.com/gb/en/woman/all/clothes/skirts/uk107-99x/knitted-skirt

Woolovers have knitted pencil skirts and they are quite reasonably priced.

cupidsabsolutepsyche · 28/09/2018 13:10

No help (unless you have one) but I used to nick my mum's black snood and wear it as a tube skirt! Early 90s, they might start selling them again!?

ConsiderHerWaysAndOthers · 28/09/2018 17:25

I just bought this in black, not quite a pencil skirt but I personally prefer slightly shorter to wear with flats. It’s perfect for work:
www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women/skirts?quickView=409504

(apologises it’s a US link but they probably sell it in the U.K. too)

ConsiderHerWaysAndOthers · 28/09/2018 17:27

Just realised that’s a dead link, this is the skirt:
