Looking for tips on how not to look like a frumpy old knacker at a short size 18 in autumn/winter.
All ideas on how to look a tiny bit glam with zero time and sleep also muchly appreciated.

Wear earrings

Mascara and lipstick

Carry a nice handbag

Eyebrows threaded and tinted
agree with mascara or if you can afford it consider lash extensions to save time
A good haircut
Washed, shiny hair - or Dry hair shampoo
Laura Mercier illuminating primer under bb cream / foundation
quick lipgloss
chunky bright jewellery - e.g. necklaces to liven up outfits?
If you have a waist try belts

This is a really good 5-minute makeup tutorial

All of the suggestions above are excellent! My main thing is making sure my face looks presentable, and it really doesn't take much. A light foundation or BB cream (well blended), dark circles concealed, a cheerful blush and a couple coats of mascara does the trick. Secondly, no matter your size, make sure your clothes fit well. Pieces that are too big with no shape will make anyone look frumpy.

make sure you take time - well presented people usually spend time on hair and looking good.

wear clothes that do something for your shape.

Just coming back to this. See, makeup I'm fine with, I have a 5 mi. Routine for a full face that I wear everyday without fail always have done.
My hair unfortunately, doesn't do sleek, it's very curly so I have to go with that and hope it works.
It's more clothes that are the issue for me.

Don't wear shapeless baggy clothes. Loose/skimming is not the same as shapeless and baggy!

Make sure your jeans and trousers are the right length. If you wear bootcut they need to be long, not hovering several inches off the ground.

No fleeces. Very hard not to look frumpy in a fleece. Have a lovely coat for winter.

Make sure your nails are filed and polished (even just clear). Eyebrows tidy.

Have good posture. Don't slouch. If you have crap posture, yoga would help improve it.

What type of thing do you usually wear? What do you see on other people that you like?

Curly hair is lovely but you could consider a brazilian blow dry if you wanted to try it straight?

EscapeToTheMoon · 27/09/2018 21:11

Dont get rid of your curls. Straight is boring!

No bootleg jeans, my daughter would disown me !
Sleeves and jean lengths correct, no too short
No fleeces
No 3/4 length sleeves
No busy prints#No Mantaray, Boden, Brakeburn drab crap
Lagenlook-sad sack
Sketchers, comfy but dowdy
Calf length skirts
Try before you buy on everything, if in doubt don't buy
If you have grey hair that is wishy washy get it dyed
