How many tops do you have/need?

How many tops do you have? How many do you really need?
I've told myself I'm going to do a cull of my tops - that's cardigans, jumpers, t shirts, and blouses - smart ones, everyday ones and scruffy ones. I keep my stuff for years because I like the colour, or the style, or the fabric, in case I lose weight - any reason whatever..... I don't seem to be able to cope with less, I feel happier with lots - like dozens of t shirts, at least 10 cashmere cardigans that I liked to wear three years ago and haven't worn since ....but I might do, one day..... Help me make some space in my overcrammed wardrobe and drawers - I'll try very hard not to re-fill them .....

if you haven't worn something in the last year, get rid of it. fill a big bag, and take it to the charity shop.

i would say you need:
7-8 long sleeved tops
9-10 short sleeved
3 pairs of jeans/trousers
3 jumpers
4 blouses (if you work then may need more)
a skirt
a dress or 2
a tunic and leggings

all the best and hopefully i haven't missed anything

Tops are the item where you need the greatest range.

In your favourite colours, you need short and long sleeves, warm and mid-warmth, smart and casual, evening and day. Forget about housework stuff (they are the old ones that don't have holes but are no longer fashionable/presentable).

I have a favourite (Uniqlo) T shirt shape that I own in white, black, charcoal, grey marl (4 Blush), dark teal, pink, turquoise and airforce blue. I am about to dye the light blue, turquoise and pink to navy (because that got so shabby it fell apart; I miss it, it's no longer made and I shall wear them constantly). I have simple jumpers and hoodies in the same colours, plus a handful of dressy tops, and a half dozen shirts and blouses in plains, spots and checks. And jeans.... in grey, indigo, black and white. That's 90% of what I wear. Boring....? Yup!

Interestingly I got rid of lots of old tops yesterday that had been stored in a clear storage bag where you vacuum the air out.

I tried some on and realised I just wasn't going to wear some of them again so they are going to the charity shop.

It was also nice being reunited with old clothes I will still wear and had forgotten about so they are back in my wardrobe.
