WideWebWitch · 11/06/2007 07:25

This is week FIVE of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

Veils drawn over last week

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

He is lovely! But I'm very biased, he's a typical little boy, he loves Thomas the Tank Engine, running around like a loon and finding dirt to roll in, I cam only assume that's what he does as he's always so muddy. He has a really great imagination and is alwyas telling me stories and has a great memory, just no interest in formal learing, so I'm taking my lead from him and not rushing him. I think he'd like to read, as he loves being read to, but hasn't made the connection between the sounds making the words, all in good time.

kate100 · 13/06/2007 16:48

Oops, he doesn't lear, he really is lovely

winnie · 13/06/2007 18:26

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

I ate chips and drank 3 glasses on wine last night. Felt completely dehydrated this morning and had drunk 1.5 litres of water before 8.30!

I look like pooh today and think I've added ten years to my appearance this week Anyway, onwards and upwards. Need to get some exercise.
Ho Hum... It's only one bad bootcamp day

WideWebWitch · 13/06/2007 19:51

I had 2 pieces toast with butter
2 pieces toast with anchovy paste
some hummus and cucumber
and not enough water
no walking
but used sunscreen
am drinking atm but what the hell
had a VERY good interview and it was exhilarating, don't even care if I don't get it

Well done everyone!

tortoiseSHELL · 13/06/2007 20:44

Oh well done www, I didn't realise it was today! Glad it went well.

yoyo · 13/06/2007 21:35

Winnie - I have been thinking about you all day. One day at a time? Chips and 3 glasses of wine does not really register on my "I need to get back on track" radar!

WWW - I didn't realise it was today either. I'm glad it went well. When will you hear?

I have shared a bottle of Prosecco with DH and am going to watch some TV now before snoozing on the sofa (4.5 hours sleep last night!!).

Tomorrow is a whole new, possibly wonderful day.

SimplySparkling · 13/06/2007 21:46

winnie I'm sorry but I've only just seen your post with the link to the thread and have read it. I'm sorry that you're having such a hard time of it atm and in the last five years. I don't know what to say except that I'm glad you've got the support of MNers. {{hugs}}

www I'm glad the interview went well today.

glitterfairy · 14/06/2007 07:39

Winnie I have found it now and am so so sorry. Hope talking to others has helped.

Am not being quite so good this week as I have been really really busy but am going to sort myself out after today. Am working at a hopsital and havent time to make a packed lunch so will have to take pot luck in a canteen

Marina · 14/06/2007 10:00

So pleased the interview went well www - really hope it works out for you
And congrats on the weight loss pamina - I too get munchies watching the Apprentice (a gin and tonic and a bowl of pistachios will see you now marina, you can go back into the larder)! Am v. envious of your prospective weekends away, enjoy them lots
Batters, 18 years today congratulations to you too, have a lovely evening celebrating
Am extremely impressed with your dd shell! Mine is ready for school all right but very much as raw material . As kate says, they really do level themselves out. Ds could neither read nor write when he started in Reception and he cottoned on very fast.

winnie · 14/06/2007 14:44

WWW, fingers crossed for the interview but glad it went well

Batters, 18 years: congratulations. Enjoy your evening

As I am signed off work for a bit I am going to throw myself into the walking (as I do believe it helps). I am feeling much calmer now just for going to see the GP.

glitterfairy · 14/06/2007 17:54

Thanks Pamina no food at all was too busy so of course got home and ate chocolate! also bought cakes!!!! What am I like ? I hate being hungry. Anyway tomorrow is another day.

Winnie sending a big big hug. Take care of yourself.

kate100 · 14/06/2007 21:45

WWW - hope the interview has a positive outcome.

MrBatters - happy anniversary!

Pamina - DH and I are off to a wedding in Ireland in July too, hopefully I'll enjoy this one a bit more as the last weeding I went to in Ireland I was 7 and a half months preganant (the booze ban is lifted for weddings isn't it?)

Winnie - glad you're feeling a bit better, getting out of the house is definitely going to make you feel better.

I've been very good today, have eaten well, moisturised and walked, even though it was pouring with rain and I cleaned the house like a mad woman as we have guests at the weekend.

I'll poat again after the weekend, when I'm sure I'll have to confess many, many sins

feetheart · 14/06/2007 22:46

MrBatters - Happy Anniversary, hope you are having a lovely evening.

Pamina - I get the 12th July irony even if not many others will. Grew up in Norn Irn and its still a family tradition to blow raspberries when passing under Orange arches How on earth have you managed the possibility of 3 w/es away? We have only just sussed out how to get the occasional evening out together!!

Winnie - glad you have been signed off and are feeling a bit better. I think the walking plan is great on all sorts of levels. Take care of yourself.

TortoiseSHELL - actually after today I'm a LOT keener on DD starting school! Everyone caged indoors this afternoon as patio being built outside and DD too knackered after a long week to go out. However NOT too knackered to expend vast amounts of energy winding up her little brother Maybe I should of just stuck her in front of the TV instead of trying to be supermum!!!

Inspite of trying afternoon I didn't succumb to the bar of G&B's in the cupboard and have generally been good.
Might be getting a little Moron obsessed as was cross last night when I was ready for bed and realised that I was only 150 steps off 10,000. I seriously thought about walking up and down the stairs for a while to make the magic number but luckily sense prevailed - it was a close thing though!

Better get to bed now as have failed to hit the 10.30pm deadline!

WideWebWitch · 15/06/2007 07:30

Ahh at 18 years, congratulations batters!
Well done everyone.
I went to bed at 9pm last night, no wine and feel 100% better. Not rocket science is it?

OP posts:
glitterfairy · 15/06/2007 07:32

The early bed thing is where I really fall down www. Did you sleep from 9pm?

WideWebWitch · 15/06/2007 08:25

From about 10pm probably GF. I slept in with poor ds, who was puking all day yesterday, and wanted mummmy. Bless.

OP posts:
glitterfairy · 15/06/2007 11:09

OOOOOh you poor thing and poor ds. I hate puke as a nurse it was the one thing I really couldnt do. Hope he is better now.

Have been to the gym this mornign so feel better and am about to eat healthy breakfast.

motherinferior · 15/06/2007 16:37

Hello all
I am Getting a Grip.

I have firmly put myself on a (usually) low-fat eating regime. And have ordered some special webbed glovey things for my swimming, in order to increase fitness/reduce bingowinginess (instead of just whingeing about it). And appear to have shed a fair bit of water I was retaining, which is the only explanation for the fact I weighed 60 kilos on Wednesday night and 57 last night!

And doc has also recommended counselling after a very therapeutic weeping session I had at her.

Onwards and upwards, ho hum.

lol Batters. Me too on wine, unless it's red, when I can easily manage just a glass/two. Moderation Aint Us hey?

Had toast x 2 then green veg for lunch with 1 slice of pizza but don't feel hungry particularly. Really hope I'm not coming down with ds's bug, he's fine today though. DH is slightly worried I'm pregnant as apparently I'm vile atm (Sobernow if you're reading I thought of you, isn;t that what your dh said to you when yuo were pg with your second dd?) but I did a test last night and am not apparently. Very negative. We haven't taken ANY risks so I really shouldn't be but hope this is pmt/bloating and not anything else. I really, really, really 100% don't want any more children. I will cry if I am. Oh god, maybe it's the bloody menopause? Surely not. Gah!

MI, sorry to hear of crying at drs but good about counselling. What are these glove things? Sound v odd!

Batters are we on for 23rd? Anyone else? Or will it just be me and Batters?

I heard back re the job - the woman who interviewed me said she thought I was great (that's what the agent said, should be a slightly embarrassed emoticon here!) and wants me back for a second int so I'm VERY happy about that.

Have people here again tonight, they're getting bread/olives/proscuitto followed by a poussin each, with baby roast potatoes and green veg with Gu chocolate puds (which I don't like so won't eat) for pudding. And Prosecco/wine.

I haven't been worthy to grace this thread but looking at that I really haven't eaten much today. Made fairy cakes with dd and don't even fancy one of them much. Oooh, just remembered I did have a strawberry iced bun but they're only about 100 cals.

OP posts:
tortoiseSHELL · 15/06/2007 17:07

Oh great about the interview www. Sorry ds has been ill - I hate it when they're sick. MI - sorry you're feeling blue, how do you feel about counselling? Did you decide what to get dd for her birthday btw? Batters - congrats on the anniversary! 18 years is fantastic! Enjoy your champagne!

Had a good day yesterday and today - yesterday had 4 tiger prawns and some raspberries for lunch (tiger prawns are a great discovery - virtually no carbohydrate, or fat, just protein, and only 60 cals for half a packet (about 5 prawns). Then had a couple of small pieces of ciabatta with low fat cheese for tea. Today, have been really busy running around trying to organise things for ds1's birthday tomorrow, so haven't really had time for food - grabbed a small slice of ham at lunchtime (was sitting in the fridge ready to be eaten), but have had water (about 1 litre), not sure what we're having for tea.
