How to style ‘cotton joggers’

Hi wonderfully helpful folks!

I bought some black trousers at a GAP outlet over the weekend - have tried locating them online to share a pic but can’t seem to find them. So, I’ve got them home and have realised that I have no idea what I’m going to wear them with and an hsving a wave of doubt as to whether they are, actually, hideous. 😬 I think I’d describe them as ‘cotton joggers’.

They are reasonably fitted, a medium weight material (nearly all cotton), they are neatly elasticated at the ankle and have a drawstring waist with tie. They sit quite high and when I tried them on I felt that they looked quite flattering - they emphasise a small waist - and they felt comfortable.

Looking for outfit ideas as to how I might make them look super cool and stylish please? If it makes any difference, I’m 34, size 6-8 and 5ft 3in. (If you think they sound horrible then that’s fine but not out to get negative or nasty opinions.)

Are they quite tapered or baggy? Not sure how dressy they are if they are Jersey... It depends what sort of look you are hoping to achieve I suppose. Casual mooching around the house or for going out?

A cropped sweatshirt type thing sounds like it might go. New look had loads I’m sure...I know because I keep looking for a jumper that hides my flabby belly and the shops are full of short ones!!

Thanks so much - some great suggestions! LittleWing, they are actually quite fitted but the style is baggy if that makes sense and the drawstring makes them look more casual. They’re not jersey feel, but firmer cotton. 😀

I wear linen t shirts with mine or a jigsaw cotton jumper. I always tuck the front part in to show the tie front. Wrap are really good at styling joggers. Maybe look on their website for inspiration.

Wear Adidas Stan Smiths and a grey sweater or sweatshirt and a denim or leather jacket - loads of photos of this on Pinterest. Type in “joggers” and you will get loads of pics. I wear this outfit and am your size - but older! However I am back at Uni.

I always wear mine with a shirt or a blouse. Sometimes a jacket over. Soft and casual on both top and bottom makes me look as if I’m still in pyjamas.

Are they something like this OP? If so, I have a pair and have styled with relaxed fit t shirts (the linen versions look really nice), regular linen shirt, cashmere crewneck knits & slouchy cotton knits. Footwear has either been white leather Converse, Stan Smiths, Isabel Marant flats

Maybe look at the Hush website for styling inspiration as they often sell what I think you’ve bought! A lovely fitted jumper or cropped sweatshirt sounds good and some Stan Smith style trainers?

I really like the sound of these! Might have to try and get to a Gap outlet 😊
