I've Lost It

I'm in a bit of a depression at the moment. I'm trying to behave as "normally" as possible so still going to work every day. But its all I can do to have a wash and throw on some clothes each morning. I don't enjoy picking out a nice outfit like I normally would. It doesn't help that the antidepressants have somehow made me gain a bit of weight (gone from a 14 to a 16). Has anyone had this happen? How did you get your style back? I really hate sitting here knowing that I look rough. But I know that I'll be the same tomorrow.

When I left my abusive ex, I went through a period of post traumatic stress, and often it was all I could do to get washed and put on clean clothes. I felt as though I was walking through mud.
What helped me was to wear monochrome outfits, so not much thought required, and add a piece of jewellery, and perfume. Then I think I gradually added a bit of colour each day. As long as everything was simple to make look smartish, and adaptable for different situations, I coped.
Hope you feel better soon OP Flowers

This will probably sound really crap but when I'm feeling really down I find faking it with make up helps me, it's like a mask that makes people think I'm okay and doing well when inside I'm not so good.

Hey! You're keeping yourself clean, go to work everyday and you got help! Cut yourself some slack!

Re style: try and treat it like a game. Lay out clothes on your bed and see what goes with what. Try to make it a fun activity!

Best of luck, OP!❤️

The best help you can get into get your depression sorted. Otherwise you'll start second guessing yourself and that leads to a downward spiral.

Until then just wear something and don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Thanks so much for the lovely replies. I am getting treatment for my depression and am trying to fight it, thats what made me post here. Funnily enough any clothes I bought in tbe recent past have all been black but I haven't worn any of them. I'll have a look at them this morning.

Re makeup, I normally do a full face but lately can't be bothered. I'm afraid to put mascara on in case I cry and make a mess!

Thanks again, I really appreciate the help.

Hello Lovely !
Try and take baby steps, where possible, focus on today.
Black clothes are great, hit them with a punch of colour, using beads, scarves, or a vibrant lipstick.
Well done for addressing your issues, you're back on the ladder of life, climb slowly to the top. 🌺🌸🌻🌸🌺

Dresses are good Op as you have a full outfit without thinking about it, get a few colorful cardys or blazers and you're done. Maybe buy a few lip glosses so you feel a bit more made up but with minimal effort. The best way facially to look out together is just make sure your hair is in good condition and cut and you're look great. You won't feel like this forever, honestly, some days will be shit and others not so shit and hopefully some days will be good again. ♥️
