Hello lovely stylistas, this beautiful leather skirt caught my eye, what do you think to it? I have been losing weight and am thinking of "rewarding" myself with this when I get to my target in 7lbs' time.

I generally suit full skirts but have never had a leather one before. Is leather worth the expense? Will riding my bike cause it to wear horribly? Is it OK for office wear? I'm in my 50s.

And what kind of top would you wear with it? I do like the look of the blouse in the photo but it's (yuk) polyester and the colour wouldn't suit me anyway.

What? Will no-one pile in and save me from myself?

I can't save you from yourself because I would buy it (although I really can't imagine riding a bike in it at all?!). Also in my 50s.

Well done on your weight loss.

Hmm, I love skirts but I don’t think it’s office wear!

wellhonestly · 18/09/2018 13:40

Thank you DontCallMeCharlotte - I ride my bike 15 mins into town for work or play, so tend to want to just wear what I'm wearing rather than all the lycra gear. (Very few pencil skirts in my wardrobe as a result!)

It's lovely but I tried on something nearly identical last winter and I just didn't work. It didn't sit right and I looked huge in it. I think you'd need incredibly soft high end leather for that style to hang properly. Don't get your hopes too high until you try it on.

Looks great! I always get a bit of sticker shock for leather though, that would buy you a real motorbike jacket/trousers.

I think you'll have to not sit on the skirt when you bike or it'll wear badly - pop cycle shorts underneath it?

It's a lovely skirt but i wouldn't risk ruining it by wearing it cycling.

I hadn't seen that site before. There are lots of lovely things on it.
Thanks

It's lovely, I don't think I'd cycle in it.
I'd wear a shirt tucked in for work, and a tshirt tucked in for the weekend. Maybe a cream rib knit jumper when it's cold. I'd style it quite 60s.

Thanks everybody, I think I will go for it when I reach my target but I won't lose my heart just yet.
