WHERE can I buy good quality work clothes?

I've tried every level of shop. The quality of formal clothing is awful!!
If you work in professional services, where do you buy good quality dresses and jackets etc?

They are online only now but I rate Banana Republic. They always have offers if you sign up to their mailing list.

Warehouse are good for dresses if you can sort through the v bright colours and super mini styles there are some good professional style dresses in there. I've got two or three I've work a lot for a few years and they still look good and wash well.

Cos? Arket? Depends a bit on budget and what you need.

jmfan · 17/09/2018 21:36

Just saw professional services. Have you tried massimo dutti? Not sure if you want to spend above these sorts of price points ...

eurochick · 17/09/2018 21:37

Reiss
Whistles
Massimo Dutti
Cos
Occasionally jaeger, Boden, Hobbs, lkbennett.

OublietteBravo · 17/09/2018 21:39

What is your budget? I really like The Fold, but their clothes aren’t cheap. This dress is amazing:

Boden for tailored trousers and pencil skirts
Cos for tops and the odd dress
Hush have some nice dresses, tops

Thiswayorthatway · 17/09/2018 21:46

Hobbs
Boden

Generally M&S, but feel the standards are slipping. An old colleague told me about Boundary Mill and you can get a lot of designers listed by PP at reasonable prices. They’re unlikely to be this season, but for work I don’t feel if matters.

I generally have five dresses that I wear from house of Fraser (no longer), M&S and believe it or not Mari Sota (spelling?). Really cheap and tailoredish enough for work.

TKMaxx - brands I buy are Calvin Klein, Savile Row, Ralph Lauren, DKNY, French Connection... Takes me a full day once a year but it works for me.

GoodPlace · 17/09/2018 21:58

I'd like to try eu.suistudio.com/en_GB/home but haven't couraged up yet.

witchmountain · 17/09/2018 21:59

Everything I had from LK Bennett lasted. When you say “every level”, what are you prepared to spend? I also find Cos good but not sure I would have considered most of it smart and conventional enough when I was in a professional
services firm.

IMissGin · 17/09/2018 22:02

Mint velvet, Reiss, Boss, massimo dutti, Zara, autograph at marks. I agree it’s a struggle though.

gower4 · 17/09/2018 22:10

Budget is pretty high to be honest - have had some success in the past in Goat, LK Bennett, Agnes B. I need very well cut stuff, particularly dresses and nipped in jackets and it seems that be getting harder and harder to find.
I find Hobbs a bit boxy for my figure. Outside of work I like Whistles and some designer stuff e.g. Rebecca Taylor, Ganni, but not for work.

So by quality do you mean cut or fabric and durability?

Getting well cut dresses always seems fairly easy but I do think there are some seasons when it’s hard to find jackets because they all lean towards a particular look and it’s not the one you want.

If that’s your kind of budget then order anything that catches your eye from Matches or Net a Porter and do some trying on?

gower4 · 17/09/2018 22:32

Cut and fabric. I haven't really got the hang of net a porter etc.

I second The Fold.

fiorentina · 17/09/2018 22:46

Jigsaw, Cos, marks and Spencer autograph for nice white shirts, also John Lewis. I don’t tend to wear a suit but mix and match pieces in natural fabrics.

Growingboys · 17/09/2018 22:48

A whole day in TK Maxx goodplace?

I would actually rather go to work naked. Never managed more than ten minutes in that hellhole.

Watching this as I too am in work clothes purgatory and have just had it with M&S’ shit efforts.

witchmountain · 17/09/2018 23:16

Give it a go gower. Unless you really like traipsing round shops, in which case use them as a reference for what other brands you might like.

Redact · 17/09/2018 23:31

I like J Crew, I find thei cut of their trousers fits me best and I have had jackets from them in the past too. I have t had a dress or skirt yet though so can't comment on those. They often have a 20/25% discount code. There's just been one so I stocked up on trousers and tippi sweaters
