Hi all, I was just wondering if there are any foundations out there (that I haven’t tried!) that would suit me better than what I am currently using? I want max coverage and would like it to last for hours. Currently use estee doulbe wear but I find it does tend to stick all around my wrinkles! I am probably looking for a miracle! Something lightweight but great coverage that does not collect in all of my wrinkles. I have some very bad blemishes around my nose and chin area that I need the max coverage on but all other foundations just seem to wear off when I have rubbed my chin/blown my nose. I would love any recommendations.

I use dermacol and it's brilliant. You use the teeniest bit with a beauty blender and it gives amazing coverage and lasts for ages. The tube itself lasts for ages too as you use so little. I've been a good six months plus with mine that I'm on just now. Doesn't break the bank either. I use two tubes and blend the colours for a perfect match so mine last twice as long.

MyBambi · 16/09/2018 23:34

I use the Fenty foundation and find it stays on my skin really well. And the bottle has lasted me a long time too Smile

Courtney555 · 16/09/2018 23:36

I bought double wear after tonnes of recommendations and found it aged me.

YSL touch eclat foundation is great. Full coverage but still glowy. It's not heavy and matt looking but covers like it is.

Iwantaspangran · 17/09/2018 07:38

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Yes, the double wear ages me terribly! I am going to start from the top and work down- I have just ordered the dermacol online then I shall try the other two. Thanks again.

Rimmel 25hr lasting finish is really worth a try. Good coverage and non drying. Although you may need concealer for the blemishes if foundation doesn't cover them

Beautifullymixed · 17/09/2018 21:42

Maybelline fit me matte and poreless.
It's not ultra matte and chalky at all, but has a skin like, satin finish that is so flattering.
It's a medium coverage, buildable on areas that need it, although you might need a concealer on large/red blemishes.

I always use a primer, and a setting powder, and it lasts all day long.
Brilliant value too.

BearFoxBear · 17/09/2018 22:05

I bought Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation last week because I had the same problem with ELDW and its brilliant. I used it with the 2in 1 primer/setting spray and its lasted all day so far.

darlingduty · 17/09/2018 22:52

I love Ester Lauder youth infusing perfectionist. Also tried and liked the YSL foundation mentioned above. How about trying a lighter / moisturising tinted moisturiser by EL but use a concealer on areas as needed. I also like to use Clarins Beauty Flash balm before applying foundation, it makes a noticeable difference IME. I find heavier foundations are really ageing. Less is definitely more!

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 18/09/2018 06:15

I recently got a sample of the YSL and was amazed at how much coverage there actually was- as it markets itself on the light reflecting glowy bit. It is pretty full coverage, but in a flattering way, unlike DW which is like putting gloss paint on your face.

Iwantaspangran · 18/09/2018 07:45

Brilliant- thank you everyone. I have never actually used concealer before! Any recommendations for that? I have oily skin around my chin and nose. Also, do you put it on under or over foundation? Thanks

I also have ELDW and I don't wear it in the day at all. If you see it in the daylight it leave a horrible chalky finish on my skin. So I only use it at night if I am going out so i doesnt get that sunlight catching it.

After a few trial runs for a every day foundations, I really like the Boujoir City Radiance now. It covers what it needs to without looking heavy and leaves a nice glow. I have the Maybelline Dream Satin as well which I really liked the look of on my skin but I found the colour range a little too limited. We are just coming out of winter so it was way too dark, so i will keep it for upcoming summer when I am a little more tanned.

Elledorado · 18/09/2018 08:29

The problem I find, is that matte foundations full coverage fdns have the best lasting ability but also the most ageing properties. ELDW is grim on me too. But others from above, such as the rimmel and maybelline get very greasy and come off during the day OR they don't have enough coverage. I'd be interested to try the ysl, Ive heard good things there and also maybe the Bobbi Brown. It feels like an endless quest to find this non-ageing, good coverage, long lasting every day foundation though

CutesyUserName · 18/09/2018 08:44

Do you use a primer first, under your DW? That made a huge difference to the way it settled (or didn't) on my skin over the course of the day.

babswindsor · 18/09/2018 08:45

Why don't you go into a department store and let them give you a makeover and advice? Thats what i'd do.
Perhaps also your skin care routine needs changing, I know I had to change my skin care a lot after 40...cough 50.

starfish8 · 18/09/2018 08:48

I swear by Clinique foundations, I've used Superbalanced for years, and also use their CC cream for lighter coverage at the weekend. I'd pop by their counter and ask them to try a suitable one on you. The counter at Boots mentioned they have a foundation event on at the moment, maybe some kind of offer on?

LexieLulu · 18/09/2018 10:00

Maybeline superstay is a full coverage foundation that I have only recently tried and like.

Like you I use double wear generally

A good primer helps small wrinkles seem less noticeable, I like benefit porefessional and body shop instablur

Iwantaspangran · 18/09/2018 10:04

I think it’ll be a trip to boots then to have a look at different products. I would normally go to a department store but then am always tied to one particular counter and I can’t say no! Thanks for all of the advice.

Can I suggest Clarins Instant Concealer? I have bought this for years and must be on my fourth tube. You only need a tiny bit and it really lifts the eye area. Without it, I look tired and just “sunken”.

It lasts ages and is seriously better than any concealer I’ve used in the past. This ....

Bluelady · 18/09/2018 11:04

It's a great concealer, shame about the incontinent packaging!

I must have used every foundation ever produced in my time. ELDW makes me look abput 110. The best I've ever used is Suqqu Rich Cream, it's magic. It's stocked in Harrods, Selfridges and Fenwick. A game changer.

Jakethekid · 18/09/2018 11:15

I used to use double wear but found the very cakey and terrible in pictures with the flash on ! At the moment I am swearing by L'Oréal infallible matte. It's got a good coverage and stays matte longer than others I have tried. I too have an oily t zone with red markings. I still find a good setting powder always helps.

TelepathicAlien · 18/09/2018 11:20

As I have got older, I tend to use a tinted moisturiser all over, (Estee Lauder) and then I go over my nose, cheeks and chin with a tiny bit of Max Factor Panstick. Find its more natural looking and doesnt cake around my eye lines.

citygirl1961 · 18/09/2018 20:19

Starfish8, is the Clinique superbalanced foundation not too heavy? I fancy using this. I usually have Boots No7 but it doesn't last the whole day,

luckycat007 · 18/09/2018 20:26

has anyone tried Chanel Le Teint Ultra Tenue? I'm currently eyeballing that. I'm with you OP, still searching for the HG, its either shade thats wrong or the consistency thats wrong. Argh.

QueenOfMyWorld · 18/09/2018 20:32

Rimmel 25hour

princesstiasmum · 18/09/2018 22:45

I use Boots no 7 instant radiance,it seems to stay on all day and doent sink into wrinkles,
i like all no 7 foundations,
