Please suggest some Autumn wardrobe staples I should buy

I'm struggling to transition from summer clothes into autumn and plan to buy a few things. Can anyone suggest a few classic staples. Also how are people wearing jeans this season? I have mainly skinnies but think maybe they've had their day. I am middle aged, slimmish and 5'6". I am ok for work clothes but struggle more at weekends. And just in case anyone asks what my style is, I don't really have one but would like to look well dressed. I prefer boots to trainers too and suit skinny jeans with boots but worried that look is a bit dated. Thanks for any help!

skinny jeans are definitely still fine to wear. if you wanted to try something different, you could try this style: tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Mid-Denim-Girlfriend-Jeans/132066327-MidDenim?searchTerm=:newArrivals&searchProduct=

you could also try tunics. you can get them as a top or a dress, but they are good because you can dress them up or down depending on what you pair with them.

i would also buy a few cable knitted jumpers, they are comfy and go with jeans, but can also be worn on a night out with a skirt, or again with jeans but with heels .

all the best!

I like Uniqlo high rise straight jeans. They're not cropped like they show on the photo - I turn mine up. I like the look of the cigarette jeans as well. I'm middle-aged, 5'6" and was slim very ish these days.

Thanks both your replies. I like both the girlfriend jeans and the cigarette jeans although to my uneducated eye they look fairly similar to each other. Can anyone advise if both are ok to wear with a two inch heel brown ankle boot? I don't really wear trainer/converse things - I prefer boots with a bit of a heel.
Also it's good to know it's still ok to wear my skinny jeans. I like the suggestion of cable knit jumpers too and have a nice navy one but will look for another colour.
Any further suggestions of good Autumn staples most welcome!
