Capsule wardrobe/small useful wardrobe?

I decided to spend babies nap time packing away summer clothes and unpacking autumn/winter clothes as hoorah it's autumn.

I'm also trying to reduce my wardrobe as to be honest I don't wear most of it and wear the same few things and I don't have loads of space currently so it makes sense.

I've listed the things I have and wear a lot then some other bits I have to see if you think I will/should wear them.

I don't have much money atm as on maternity so will eBay for clothes what items do you think will take me through autumn/winter looking a little stylish/fashionable?

I'm a big size 12 pear shaped, as have recently put weight on since having baby and am petite and I'm 30.

Things I live in-

Joni skinny jeans blue and black pairs
3 x favourite jumpers all hush (black love saves the day, grey ribbed star and navy glittery start one)
Silver, white and leopard print trainers
Leopard print shirt dress -recent buy wearing loads with white trainers but plan to wear with tights and boots/brogues too
Black hush dolman hoodie
A few t shirts-whistles French slogan in grey or striped
Navy slightly cropped tapered trousers

Other things I've unpacked into wardrobe
Couple of whistles slogan sweaters ( don't find these that flattering on me now)
Whistles black glitter jumper
Basic Red, burgundy, leopard print and rust coloured jumpers all from warehouse

Tan brogues
Black brogues
Leopard print ballet flats

I've got black leather flat below knee boots for when colder and a pair of heeled boots I love but doubt I'll wear now with baby.

I'm packing away all other shoes as I just don't wear them!

Coats

Navy hooded raincoat (just a cheap new look one)
Red winter coat (I really love this)
Leopard print winter coat ( looking worse for wear but will likely eBay to replace)

I really want a seasalt seafolly jacket in redcurrant and will probably buy one soon

Sorry for going on for ages, so what items do you think would help the ones I've got and be able to be worn a lot to look relatively fashionable but obviously I am pretty boring very casual and Mumlike!

Tops/cardigans that cover my bum are the least flattering thing in the world for me I think.

I think they make me look bigger and my bum look awful and ginormous when it is big but in a reasonably okay way. I wear all high waisted jeans with jumpers/t shirts over the top or high waisted trousers with the top tucked in.

What about getting a white shirt if you don't already have one? I wear mine loads tucked into jeans with either a leather biker jacket or a jersey blazer over the top. I got a brand new with tags H&M one for 4.99 on Ebay and it's really nice.

Hope you don't mind me asking but where was your leopard print shirt dress from? It sounds lovely!

totally understand. what about something like this? i dont think it covers your bum, and it comes in different colours.

Also a bretton/stripe top. I've got one by Seasalt and wear it loads with jeans and also with ankle grazer black skinny trousers for work.

Leather jacket?

I also love a little a-line skirt to wear with opaque tights and boots and all your tops.

gilmoregal · 15/09/2018 17:41

Thanks all, i forgot to say I do have a good black leather jacket and I do wear that a lot too.
I've recently got rid of a couple of Zara coloured faux leathers as felt a bit old for them.

Leopard print shirt dress is Next and m&s have one too.

I've got a white shirt and a white shirt with little black hearts on it that I wear underneath the fave jumpers. Definitely feel to fat to wear some though.

My mum has always said I don't suit skirts and they make me look wide so don't own any.

I love a good Breton and this is something I used to wear a lot of however feel a bit conscious of c-section pouch and weight gain so not sure I can pull it off now I only wear my striped tees tucked in to high waisted trousers.

What colours are looking to be 'in' for autumn/winter? I know leopard print seems to be in which is great for me as I already have and wear a load of it as it really suits me.

Oh that leopard dress is gorgeous!!

mybrainhurtsalot · 16/09/2018 15:56

As you like leopard print, what about leopard print leggings - Hush and M&S have some in grey/black.

Bluelady · 16/09/2018 16:38

Everyone can wear a breton. They look good with everything - I wouldn't put them with leopard print but some (blind) people do.
