What do I wear with work dresses to keep warm?

I'm size 20, wear fitter knee length dresses to work. I hate waterfall or long line cardigans. A blazer is too formal .. is there something else I'm missing?

What about a poncho but not an overhead one?

Im a receptionist of an office building and in the winter I have one I wear over my suit as it gets chilly in the main reception

Short cardigans. Like these. Lots of places sell them Even primark. One of my jobs is as an office manager and I wear ones like this over my dresses.

Why not just a fitted cardigan, shortish cut, like from a twinset.

GemmeFatale · 14/09/2018 16:52

Thermal vest underneath?

EdinaMonsoon · 14/09/2018 16:55

Heat-tec from Uniqlo are brilliant for layering beneath dresses & blouses in the winter when you don't want to wear a knit over the top. Otherwise, have you tried a neat Chanel-style jacket? They can look really informal if styled the right way.

sourpatchkid · 14/09/2018 22:07

Yes the Chanel type jacket might be what I'm looking for @EdinaMonsoon!! Any idea where I get one from?

Sorry everyone else, I meant to say I don't like slim fit short cardis either - I'm a real pain

Zara always have them each season. Also you could try Monsoon, Hush, H&M, John Lewis, Hobbs & LK Bennett.

Layer a thin long sleeve top under, or jacket over. I literally had the same thought to get some fabric and make a neat cardigan style jacket. I have one in boiled wool but milano knit or ponte roma would do.

NotMeNoNo · 15/09/2018 08:58

Also Jigsaw and Vila do soft jackets depending on your price point.

Scarves make a huge difference, I keep a couple of neutral lightweight ones at work to pop on if I get chilly, they really help.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 15/09/2018 09:03

I work in a chilly office and I've switched from dresses to skirts and jumpers.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 15/09/2018 09:05

I wear a long sleeved fitted top under dresses in the winter.

TeachesOfPeaches · 15/09/2018 09:06

Pashmina
