HI all, hope you can help a newbie to the site. I am off in a few weeks on a cruise with a girlfriend for 19 nights. it is part of my rehabilitation following my husband having walked out on me 9 months ago. I am thinking of trying lash extensions for the first time. Any thoughts or recommendation from those who have used them would be gratefully received . Oh, and will they last for the whole cruise or will I be likely to need a top up?

I had it done years ago and they pulled all my own lashes out as they fell out.
Never again!!

I get them fortnightly, my advice would be to find someone who has good reviews!

I’ve had shite ones, that damaged my lashes and were really uncomfortable.

I’ve been going to my friend since she opened her business and have never had a problem, despite having them constantly for 13 months!

They last about 2 weeks, assuming you don’t use mascara or oily cleansers. So you may need a top up on the cruise.

I've been part of the beauty industry for years. You name it, I've had it applied, extended, waxed, enlarged, removed 😂

Lash extensions. No no. They look great for two days. Then you sleep pressed against your arm and wake up to find one eye bent off at a 90 degree angle giving you an alluring squint.

The little twiddling brush you get to untangle them does bugger all. You can't wash your face properly. They pull your existing lashes out. I honestly don't have a good thing to say about them. They fall out if you go swimming too, which I suspect you will on a cruise.

Buy 5 pairs of strip lashes (the friendly farmed mink ones look excellent and are from totally humanely collected hair)which you can reuse a couple of times each and enjoy your cruise!

I had LVL lashes yesterday, not extensions, but a lift tint and curl. They look great (my lashes are short and stubby) and they last 5-6 weeks.

Lvl lashes are fab, would highly recommend. With a couple of coats of mascara they look like falsies and you look glam during the day too

I just spent 3 weeks in a European country where all the women look fantastic. I travelled the whole country. I did not see one woman with eyelashes extensions. I then came back here and every other girl/woman has them. They are really, really tacky. I also think that because everyone has them, we feel pressured into having them. I really hope this craze passes.

I did try them twice. They wrecked my lashes and took 4 months to grow back.

I'm of two minds.

On one hand I get them every 2 - 3 weeks and love them. They look fabulous, and so low maintenance - I love not actually wearing eye makeup anymore and know they make me look better. I also enjoy the act of getting them put on and find it very relaxing.

On the other hand - I'm stuck. They've destroyed my natural lashes so when they wear out I look terrible and as PP says sometimes they go wonky. They've made me feel vain about my lashes and really self-conscious when I'm due a refill, when before I was in blissful ignorance.

So - over to you! If I could go back in time I honestly don't know what I'd do.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I will probably go ahead as I have let myself go a bit since my husband left and really need a confidence boost at the moment and hopefully find a new man. Many of my friends do look glam in their lashes despite the potential problems.
