Baukjen catalogue

I’ve received yet another Baukjen catalogue on the post (no idea how they’ve got my address). I’ve always thrown them into the recycling but this time I actually quite like some of the clothing they have.

As the prices are on a dearer side, is the quality good? And how’s the fit? Has anyone here ordered from them?

On each item they usually tell you to buy your usual size, or to size up/down and I’ve found that advice pretty accurate. Re quality, like everywhere else, it’s variable. Have had some great jersey tops that have lasted multiple washings and come out looking like new. Have a pair of trousers that bagged after one wear.

I've bought a few things from them in the last year and have been really happy with everything so far. I bought a couple of Ts (Kendra / Callie), trousers, 2 dresses, 3 skirts. I have sized down on tops but find the dresses and trousers true to size. You can find a few similar styles in Hush but not as expensive, for example the Darby Dress, Hush have similar styles for quite a bit less and quality doesn't differ hugely.

I got a jacket from them and a pair of wool work pants. Been wearing them for a year now- perfect condition. They fit a bit large so buy a size down!

I got their woollen gingham pants and they’re pretty warm and high quality. I also adore their jackets as they are timeless and I got lots of compliments

I have quite a few lovely tops and have bought ruched skirts too which are great for work as they are long. I have never paid full price, they do great sales and also cash back through Quidco.

Fab, thank you all for the replies! I was hesitant to order, partly because I’ve been really disappointed with the quality of Hush clothes. So wondered if this is the case with Baukjen too. And besides Baukjen is bit wanky name Grin

I guess Baukjen de Swaan Arons doesn't think it's a wanky name

EleanorLavish · 13/09/2018 05:28

Baukjen is the name of the owner. She is from Amsterdam.
I’m 5’8” and love their stuff, as it isn’t short. Hush is far too short for me, so I don’t think you can compare the two. The quality of Baukjen is much better than Hush IMO. There is usually a 15% off code on the catalogue?

caterpuller · 13/09/2018 13:12

Quality is definitely better than Hush, although you can get some similar styles on Hush if you don't want to spend Baukjen prices. I have a couple of the Hush jersey dresses, the ones with the ruched skirts, and quality is not bad.

I think Baukjen is the same company as Isabella Oliver? So if you've ever ordered maternity clothes from them you may be on the mailing list for Baukjen too.

Helipad · 13/09/2018 15:08

Nice it wasn’t a personal attack, I’m foreign with a foreign surname and I still think it’s not a great company name.

My catalogue came with 20% off code. Have seen couple of tops in there, will order those first and see how they are.

I've been getting their catalogues through the post for some time but never ordered, so good to hear people are generally impressed with the clothes.

QVC are also selling a small range of their products and Ruth Langsford seems to be a fan.

FabulousTomatoes · 13/09/2018 16:37

I’ve bought a lot of their stuff in the past (always in the sale) but I’m less keen on it now. The quality isn’t bad but I’m not keen on their mainly man made fabrics, especially for the price. A really ordinary denim jacket (admittedly I guess it’s cotton) this season is £150 Shock
Their style is a little basic For my liking but some of their jersey tops I have worn and worn. I always wash it their stuff at 30 and never tumble dry.
I prefer more structured clothes these days but their stuff is very comfortable!
