Help to style this beautiful skirt for a December wedding

I love this skirt from M&S and would like to get it. I think it would be good for a wedding I have coming up in December. How would you style it for this occasion. Normally I'd pair it with black but would like to avoid black as it's a wedding.
Could I wear it with green? Or is that too Christmassy? Try to find a matching red? Another colour? Also, can you wear open toed shoes in December? Would an ankle boot make the look too casual? Opinions welcome, thanks!
I'm 34 if that affects your suggestions! TIA x

Maybe a dark silver, like gunmetal, top. Or I'd possibly try to find a top the same colour as the skirt.

dark grey, cream, peach or a metallic colour.

I definitely should have mentioned that I have a new baby and will be breastfeeding! So need easy access! So I don't think the gold one would work but I do like the colour! I think I'll go for something metallic.

Do Whistles still do their sparkly jumpers? One of those in black, grey, burgundy or maybe dark green might be nice.

Unless you are model thin those skirts are an absolute bastard to wear. Pleats over thr tummy makes it look way way bigger than it is. So unless your top is long, or you're very thin, or you don't care if you look like you're still pregnant, I'd steer clear.

They are notorious for it.

I'd wear a camel wrap coat over it, this kind of thing. And since I'm short I'd wear it with brown ankle boots, if you are taller I'd go for knee high boots with it, at least for the church. But then maybe have heels or an embellished pointy flat to wear later.

As far as tops go I wear a slouchy jumper with my pleated skirt but that's not really wedding appropriate. You want something that looks smart enough but that is slightly incongruous. Probably a shirt and a thick belt.

Colours wize I'd wear navy or mustard/gold or one of the browns that are around at the moment. Black will look dated this season with that skirt.

I'm no model bluntness but pleated midis are a staple in my wardrobe... They work well for me on my body shape.

Thanks CountFosco, I was considering a shirt / blouse as it would be breastfeeding friendly too! I also like the look of these skirts with jumpers and I might try that for another occasion.

Just checked - sparkly jumpers in lots of colours, and 20% off at the moment too.
