Wearing midi dresses in winter

What on earth do I put on my feet please? Bought one I really like but only really want to keep it if actually going to get to wear it. It looks nice with bare legs and some stan smiths, but can't see me putting up with that once it gets colder. Any ideas welcome!

Thick tights and shoe boots/knee length boots?

Judydreamsofhorses · 10/09/2018 21:23

I Iove midi dresses and skirts, but on me they need the bare gap between hem and foot to work. If I try tights with them, they look crap. Mine are now packed away until spring. I think long boots might be the answer, but I really don’t like them. For me, winter is above the knee and 100 denier opaques.

Judydreamsofhorses · 10/09/2018 21:25

Oh, I am 5ft 6, size 10. I wonder if it works better on taller people so the midi length is just below the knee instead of mid-calf?

I never bare my legs above the knee (ugly wriggly raised vein) and wear midi dresses with trainers they look imo crap with tights. I wear mini skirts or dresses with tights n boots in winter.

This dress looks well with boots but I'm not sure if it would work with a lower heel.

I wear tights and or leggings. Sometimes coloured ones. Boots, brogues, ballet flats, slipper style shoes, plimsoles, anything pretty much. I live in midi dresses!

Tights and trainers!

Judydreamsofhorses · 10/09/2018 21:48

I wear trainers with mine in summer, but even black leather trainers and black tights look rubbish on me. I have so many lovely midi dresses and skirts, if I could work them with tights it would be amazing.

I was trying my dresses at the weekend and they looked better with 40-50 denier rather than my opaque tights.

Gingerteabag · 10/09/2018 22:27

Hmmmmm maybe I should hold off until spring then and see what's around then. Fingers xd they'll stick around, being tall and pale I love them

Wearing one with 30deniers and brogues today.

The shift to wearing tights again makes everything look weird for a day or two IMO
