Dying hair whilst pregnant

Just a query really.... I've recently found out I'm pregnant, yay! Just over 4 weeks. However, I've previously booked to have balayage on my hair at the end of the month. Is it safe to do?

I was told by my hair dresser that it was fine after the first 3 months but it does depend on the type of dye being used. Some people don’t dye their hair for the full duration of their pregnancy. Speak to your hair dresser they will be able to advise you.

I have always colored my hair during pregnancy. I have terrible greys so there is no way I could go mine months without colour.

I'm not sure what the risk is supposed to be from dyeing, during pregnancy, but I do know that highlights are preferable to all over dye as it doesn't touch your scalp, so balayage should be fine. Like the pp I wasn't willing to go grey during my pregnancies so I carried on colouring my hair and all was fine.

My hairdresser said if it was absorbed into your system and would harm the baby it would actually be dangerous for anyone to use. Not just pregnant women!

Thanks all for your responses. Spoken to my hair dresser too who is of a similar opinion. Booked in for the 29th 👐
