Please help me find a coat for pram-pushing rainy dahs

Currently on maternity leave and spend a good chunk of my day pushing a pram around and none of my existing coats are going to cut the mustard for keeping me dry when I don’t have a hand free for holding an umbrella!

The holy grail would be:

  • at least knee length. I keep finding coats that are otherwise nice but are mid thigh length and mean my legs are going to get soaked in a downpour
  • have a decent sized hood that will properly keep my head dry and the front of which won’t hover annoyingly round my hairline
  • be waterproof enough that I can walk around in the rain for an hour or so without my clothes getting wet. Showerproof ain’t going to cut it
  • ideally I don’t want to look like I’m spending the day hiking. I’m not looking for something really sophisticated but ideally vaguely nice looking
  • under £150 ideally

I would be most grateful for any suggestions of coats or even just brands that make the sort of coat that I’m after.

@sycamore54321 thanks for the tip; I’m looking for something really reliably waterproof as it’ll be a coat that I’m planning on wearing every single day whilst taking my baby out for naps in the pram (2 or 3 times a day; oh what a joy that’ll be in winter!). I will have a look at the review on the M&S website and see if there’s any mention of how waterproof it is.

Joules Stormont- rain proof and fleece lined. Reduced at Petandcountrystore and you get 15% off your first order.

I bought this from Trespass recently on impulse as I was pissed off with getting wet legs and saw it in the window. I like it alot more than I thought. Mine was only fifty quid in the sale though. Not sure why it is full price now.

BTW it is totally waterproof. I´ve been pissed down on every day last week and was bone dry on all the bits the coat covers. Their model must be exceptionally tall. I am 5 foot 6 and it comes down to my knees.

I have the Janelle, brought from the seasalt sale shop with a button missing off the back. It is so warm and dry. I have sat on the park in the pouring rain and the beach and not got wet. Great length. My friend has it in grey which is lovely. Mine is red as I wanted a bargain! But worth full price I would say.

Yes I got the squid ink blue as it’s the nicest colour!

I tried Seasalt Janelle and Joules Stormont.
I preferred the Stormont.
After I bought the Stirmont I tried on the Janelle again but was glad I'd bought the Joules Stormont
